Dry, Dry, Dry.... - 10/02/22 09:09 PM
Have all the plots done except one behind my house. Got the beans cut last week and also got bushoging done around my duck hole. Went down today to layout my plot so my brother can use a big disk. Even using a 4lb hammer I had trouble driving 1x2 stobs in the field. No way it would cut and no rain in sight. Guess I'll just have to wait.

We turned dirt with fertilizer 2 weeks ago. Waiting to sling seed. Was at the lease yesterday, and plots are like baby powder.

Rained every single day here from May all the way through end of August...and I'm not talking about showers, either. I'm talking torrential rainfall every day.
Come time to plant...dry as powder.

Might be the first year I don’t plant. Haven’t put disc in the ground yet and don’t plan to before the rain. Can’t imagine the dust.

I’m out here hunting in Texas and he said they haven’t had a rain since may 19th. All the water tanks and ponds have dried up and everything out here looks like it’s been sprayed with roundup. His deer took a big hit this year just trying to stay alive. I normally plant the first week of October but not this year. I’m not putting 2 thousand dollars worth of seed in the ground until we get some rain in the forecast

Hate it for the plotters but I am hoping for at least 2 weeks more of drought. The loggers moved in this week on my low property I have been waiting to get right for 9 months.

We are planting this coming weekend. If it rains, it rains. If not the seed will just sit in the dust till it does rain.

I don't plant until end of October every year and always feel like the germination is better I do 50 acres minimum and if it doesn't come up I'm out 100 bags of seed or having to come back in and top sow it a second round. That has happened10 times out of 10 due to low moisture.
When it gets into your wallet like that you'll pay close attention to germination.
Resist the urge to plant we've got PLENTY of time. I would personally prefer to catch at least 1 rain before start.

I planted. some of my solo spots back in august. They are burnt up.
$300 in seed wasted hurts.
