Alternative: CELLULAR TRAIL CAM - 08/25/21 10:31 PM

I've been doing some research on this and I think I'm going to try it. I'm going to order one next week and prob put out the next. I'll keep ya'll updated.
Watching video from the couple of cell cams I currently have is not possible, only pics. Looks like for the Camera, Solar Panel and SD card total cost is going to be around $265

This guy has more than one vid on this camera, his setup and stuff.
Tell me what you think.

Security cell cams ( good deal)

Rmart30 just posted that these are on sale.

Re: Alternative: CELLULAR TRAIL CAM - 08/26/21 03:18 PM

Im very happy with the ones i have. I run 2 at our camp and 2 more at my personal property. I was using cell game cams but i like these better since i can live view it at anytime. Makes it nice to be able to ck in and make sure the gate is closed and locked etc.
I have not had to charge batteries in over a year. Just have to make sure the solar panel gets good sun. I also like these due to their small coke can size. With the cam on a tree pointed straight at you it just looks like a knot hole or dark spot rather than a square or rectangle out of place something on a tree. The solar panel has a long cord and it can be up higher or on back side of tree out of view.

Re: Alternative: CELLULAR TRAIL CAM - 08/26/21 06:19 PM

Rmart30, what model do you have ? The GO or GO PT ?

Also, did you paint yours, put camo tape on it ? I know you didn't stick a white camera up.

Re: Alternative: CELLULAR TRAIL CAM - 08/26/21 06:51 PM

LetOff. Just the go model I did not get the pan and tilt.
Mine came with this cheesy looking camo cover in the link below. I really didnt think id like it but once it was up on a tree it really blends in well. The white base of the camera I painted flat black. The solar panel is totally black and required no painting.

These cams hide so well because when you look directly at it all you see is a round dark spot. Its not a square or rectangle out of place on a tree trunk like a game camera is.
The one I have at our lease gate has been up for a year now. Its about 13 ft up a tree trunk and not the first person has ever noticed it. The solar panel is on the back side of the tree facing west and the cord is long enough that its probably 3-4 ft above the camera so it really cant be seen at all from the front side.

Re: Alternative: CELLULAR TRAIL CAM - 08/26/21 07:10 PM

Does it come with the solar panel ? I see it's only $25 for a panel so not to bad.

Also see 2-year warranty, that's a year longer than everyone else for trail cams.

Any reason why you went with T-Mobile ? Verizon and ATT should work I'm sure.

Re: Alternative: CELLULAR TRAIL CAM - 08/26/21 08:10 PM

I've got the Go on our gate - posted in Rmart's thread about it. I think T-Mobile is the only option? Not sure but that's the only reason I would have gone with T-Mobile. But so far it's been good and only $10 a month. I didn't bother trying to hide/paint mine. I want people to see it and know they are getting recorded. I want to deter more than I want to catch someone after the fact.

Re: Alternative: CELLULAR TRAIL CAM - 08/26/21 08:28 PM

Letoff the one on sale comes with a solar panel it said. T mobile is their recommended provider. I dont see why anyone's data sim card wouldn't work in it. They all do the same thing.

halb, Ive got broken "dummy" game cams in plain view in front of these cams. Hopefully those will keep their attention and they steal those and this hidden one will catch them. Ive gotta couple of meth head neighbors id love to catch doing something stupid.

Sorry brotha, but that's not correct. I talked to their customer support and they state that the solar panel is not included.
But I do see Amazon has it even cheaper at the moment WITH the solar panel. But it says "Limited Time Deal" so not sure how long it will last.

Mash Here

Ok, I'm one of those guys who has to research everything before I buy something,
So for those interested, for these two cameras only, here is a summary of some of the facts I read on the website, watched on youtube from the guy I posted in my first post and from talking to their customer support.

**The difference in the GO and the GO PT is one is a stationary camera in live mode, the other will Pan & Tilt in live mode.
**The price currently on Amazon, with the solar panel included: GO = $192 (free shipping) GO PT = $289 (free Shipping)
>> Remember when ordering on Amazon you can return a product no questions asked as long as you haven't damaged it.
**Has PIR sensor, which means if it detects movement, it starts recording and does not stop until there is no more movement.
**Videos are recorded to micro sd card and cloud (optional) in 1080 HD Video.
**For one camera, cloud storage is FREE, stores vids for up to 7 days and up to 1GB. You can download to your device from the cloud.
**For multiple cameras, cloud storage has a standard & premier plan. Standard = $3.49 a month, 30 day history, 5 cameras supported, 30GB storage
**Cloud access can be done from App on your phone or log into your account from their website and view in full screen monitor.
**Real time alerts to your phone when video has started so you can instantly log in and watch live.
**The GO PT camera does make noise when in live mode and panning or tilting the camera, wild life will hear it.
**Verizon will not work on this camera, they report they have compatibility issues.
**If you have an ATT signal, they suggest using Freedompop sim card (no contract, less than $4 month), support said you will receive same signal strength and work fine (must be leased from ATT but I have not investigated this)
>> Freedompop Mash Here Go to 1:45 in the video. Can buy on Amazon.

I'm going to order one and will fill everyone in once I got it in use.

I ordered one: here’s an update:
(1) you will need a micro as card adapter in order to make a .txt file on your computer, copy to the micro sd, and then upload to the camera in order for the camera to I’d your carrier information and contact the carrier for your cellular use.

(2) price was $259 delivered on Amazon with a solar panel. Came extremely fast. Like 2 days maybe.

(3) I found out target sold freedompop, and while I generally don’t shop there, I ran I there and got a card that was labeled $4.99 but it cost me $25?
I was in a hurry and didn’t have time to discuss it. I needed the SIM card and it was the only one they had. I have it activated now, but dadgum if I can find the $4 a month option the guy in the video is using. Looks like I’m going to pay about $9 a month for 1 Gb data. They do have 25 Mb for $5, but I don’t think that’ll help me at all. I would think you’d use that pretty quick?

(4) logging into the camera, moving the camera, etc … easy on the app. Nothing triggered it last night, so still waiting to see how it does with an animal in front of it.

My limited research revealed there are many carrier options for the data.

Just saw this reply. Im sorry but you would be incorrect. It does come with the solar panel for $189 on Reolinks site. I will be happy to email you the picture or if someone can post it here in this thread I can send it to them. You may have checked it after the sale went off. I just went back to reolinks site and its still showing for $189 with solar panel and free shipping.

Maybe we are talking about two different cameras. Seems like the Go was around the price you indicate. I was talking about the GO PT. It was $259 with tax, shipping, and the solar panel. You had to read the fine print. It showed the solar panel info on the ad, but you had to pay $25 extra to get the solar panel. They were even shipped as two different packages.

Re: Alternative: CELLULAR TRAIL CAM - 09/08/21 01:36 PM

Correct, the GO PT pan and tilt is more than the GO cam. The GO cam is the one i linked too originally showing the sale. Its the one showing now still for $189 including solar panel.

That’s about right, I was on the wrong one so I apologize for stating you were incorrect. We were discussing two different products. The one I bought, you can pan and tilt remotely. It was $219.66 plus $20.33 for the solar panel. Then tax and shipping.

Re: Alternative: CELLULAR TRAIL CAM - 09/08/21 02:01 PM

RMart30

Do you use freedompop? Or a different carrier?

There’s a carrier on Amazon that the YouTube guy now recommends, as well as reolink support recommends too because you don’t have to go to a computer and get the .txt file. The carrier he recommends on his newest video has the card already set up to communicate.

I am very happy with freedompop signal I am getting in a very remote location.

Re: Alternative: CELLULAR TRAIL CAM - 09/08/21 02:27 PM

Jstocks I used T mobile. I dont see why they wouldnt work on anyones sim data card.

I did not have to do anything with the T mobile card other than put it in and register the camera thru the app. Didnt have to do any .txt file.

stoopid question: does this require a separate mobile line, in addition to the cloud fee? we run a verizon mifi, by the way, here in the sticks ...

I am running mine on freedompop.
The support at reolink and the farmer guy on YouTube recommends eiotclub.

Re: Alternative: CELLULAR TRAIL CAM - 09/08/21 03:19 PM

I ordered one and have it setup now. I used the Freedompop sims card and it gives you a phone#. I could not get the camera to connect until I dialed the # and you can hear it ring from your camera and then it connected. The video is not very clear and it has a slow trigger speed. I'm only recording in 8 sec video so I have to check and see if I can increase that to 1 min. The cloud is free with 7 day history and you can download any video you want to keep.

Re: Alternative: CELLULAR TRAIL CAM - 09/20/21 02:22 PM

Also, just so you know. Freedompop is a resale of AT&T. Also, I talked to reolink when I first posted this, they said the camera will not work with verizon.

So if you got good T-Mobile or good AT&T signal you are good to go. If you need verizon, this cam is not for you.

Thank you for posting this thread. I have never heard of this before but now I have one up and running and it is awesome! The only difficulty I had was getting the freedompop sim card working properly but a few YouTube videos later and it was up and running.

Re: Alternative: CELLULAR TRAIL CAM - 09/21/21 01:28 AM

Letoff,
I saw your pm. I’m overseas working and I haven’t been on as much lately.

Here’s the way I see it for the GO PT:
I have not noticed it scaring any animals. I have the white one and have not camouflaged it.
I have the solar panel and my battery still reads 100% and I’m in thin pines on a fire lane with a thicket of planted pines on the other side. Lucky Buck mineral site. The camera works great for a feed site. As some others have mentioned, it seems a little slow on the trigger speed for a “trail camera”. What’s this mean? I regularly see deer that are naturally crossing and not stopping at the site to feed or get mineral, and sometimes they are a blur as to what it is. Meaning “was that the 4 point i been seeing or was it a doe?”
Night video is fair. Not great and not bad. Plenty good enough for feeer/foodplot monitoring.
If you put it on a plot, it would be great to log in and see what’s around late in the evening.
Also, to log in and scare the crap out of someone with an elk bugle through the speaker about 5:30 pm while they are hunting! Would be great for practical jokes. Coyotes and coons flip out quickly when I do it to them…..lol

I won’t post any videos for personal reasons. I hunt close to some guys that don’t want the press, so I respect them and that’s just the way it is on that. You can see videos on YouTube that folks post though. The hunting farmer is a good one.

These cams with solar panel are on a flash sale on reolinks site for $163 ... find the reolink go,
For $139, select add to cart and then it gives you the options to select. Make sure and get the black solar panel if this is something you dont want seen.
