Left the clearcut and am in a lock-on down in the swamp. This place never gets hunted because it’s such a pain in the ass so I’m hoping I get lucky. Good luck fellers!

What a beautiful sunrise in the woods around Brantley for my first AL hunt of the season. Waiting on the deer with barely any wind. Couldn’t ask for a nicer day. Now if the deer will show.

Re: LFTT 1-30 - 01/30/21 01:53 PM

Sitting in a ladder stand between a creek and food plot. Found a scrape line about 20 yards away last time I was up. Had two small does come through about 45 minutes ago...one walked around the ladder about 4 times while the other stayed about 15 yards away. They stuck around about 30 minutes then eased off toward the creek

Re: LFTT 1-30 - 01/30/21 08:03 PM

Decided to get to stand a little later. Was headed to my climber and hadn’t gone 200 yards when a buck steps in the road 50 yards from me. I dropped to a knee and dropped him right there. His left rack had 4 points and main beam was 19 inches long. His right rack was broken off. After I shot I looked back and could still see my truck. I pulled trigger at 8:05am. Back at camp drinking coffee at 8:30. Shot him with dad’s Ruger M77 .270. Been wanting to put one on the tailgate with that gun. 🙏🦌

Re: LFTT 1-30 - 01/30/21 08:29 PM

Warmed up a good bit down here today... was about 35 this morning and up to 65 right now. Wind is blowing like crazy though (weather app on my phone is showing 15-20mph). Sat in the same ladder stand I was in this morning for about 30 minutes and got drunk from the tree swaying. Decided I'd make it a shooting house hunt this afternoon

Re: LFTT 1-30 - 01/30/21 11:25 PM

Congrats Doc! We are finishing up a long day of hunting today - we have been hard after it. Question - is it good luck or bad luck that we have seen 3 shooters in the last 6 days but have not gotten a good shot for my 12 year old?? I think it’s good luck with a dose of reality with it. He disagrees 🤣

Re: LFTT 1-30 - 01/30/21 11:25 PM

Several out and about. One big one antlered would be 8. He's always only had one side. He's 4 now and around 180 live. If weather was better I'd have green ligted him for someone. Watched him almost an hour. Bedded up for a awhile. He be 18" with a complete rack.
