What’s y’all opinion - 01/25/21 01:48 AM

On what happens with deer movement after the rut. Before and during u see good movement and after it seems to trickle to almost nothing. I know our long season plays a part maybe but it’s like they have left on a lot of places. I don’t think it’s a food thing but something changes from always seeing a deer to almost nothing. Pressure may be what it is because u will get night pics. If ur lucky enough to have a late hot doe around it’s active but in my case this time of year rarely catch that break. Also I’m referring to even doe movement not just bucks.I know u guys further south are going now but central areas seems to play out this way so what are they doing in y’all opinion.

We haven’t seen much rut activity in Macon County where we hunt.

The does get more scares once chasing starts - like they disappear sometimes - In past years where I hunt - I usually see another uptick of rut activity in February
Had a buddy kill big deer yesterday in Wilcox county - super stinky

Our property was hot last weekend and this writs dead. I haven’t had a buck on camera in a week. I’m hoping with this little cold snap they will fire off again. At both pieces of property I have it has went belly up the past few days

Yeah I’ve tried in the past to move more to woods and cover vs hunting clear cuts and powerlines and such but seems my results are the same. Also I don’t try as hard as I use to but regardless the usual places are ghost towns now.

Our deer have started to group back up together. If you see any, it could be 10-12 does and yearlings. If you are lucky, a hot doe might make an appearance that could bring a buck to you. However, the vast majority of our deer have turned nocturnal.

Ill be honest. I havent quite put my finger on whats going on just yet. Our deer are so nocturnal, and theres been a bunch of pressure this year. Alot of housedogs running the deer. My son has been in the woods a good bit. I dont know how much of whats going on is natural and what is being caused by outside pressure. Im doing about the same thing i did last year, about the same amount of food is getting gone, so im assuming the deer are still there. But we saw way more deer last year. Im really wanting to kill a deer to get fixed up and donate to a rehab ministry ive been spending some time with. Ive about decided the next buck of any size is gona catch a bullet. At this point i feel like ill be lucky to get another chance.

1. Pressure
2. Pressure
3. Pressure

I hunted at my buddy’s place yesterday afternoon. From 2:00 til 5:30 I saw 15 different rack bucks and probably 30 antlerless deer crossing a gas line.

Our deer started making scrapes on 10/31. Rut through Christmas/new year’s and movement goes dead in January.

I think this time of year it's pressure. That's really the only explanation I can come up with. Unless you own and manage a couple thousand of aces your deer are pressured. May not be by you, but the neighbors haven't stopped shooting just cause you ain't there. House dogs running around this time of year don't help a bit either and I've got plenty of that where I hunt, too.

This is my experience. Usually my freezer is also full by January. Meaning I'm pretty much done for the year. I'll still go a few times, but I ain't shooting unless it is the biggest deer I've ever seen. I'm ready to do some fishing. Either that, or I have a few folks wanting to bring some rabbit dogs to my place.

Corn may be the interesting angle. So much of it available, not being fed on a timer, etc.

I can tell you that even on a very LOW pressure property...they all experience some type of lull at one point during the season.

Skull...same here for us near Hardaway; nothing chasing all weekend. Cams show does all over food, no bucks except for smaller ones.
