I buy a mix with Triticale, Oats, Rye, Winter Peas and a great Radish.I also add Buck Forage Oats to the mix. Top it off with Apache Arrowleaf, Durana, Berseem and Barduro medium red clovers. Most of the plots have Crimson that comes back every year with no attention.

Yep, give them time. We put out gravity feeders on a new property last year. The deer seemed scared of them for a little bit, we'd get pics of the deer checking them out but never see their snout eating out of them. Within a month or so, they were hammering them. Now we haven't have them filled for a few months and they still come around them looking for food.

Yep. That’s setting the table for the entire season. I use Biologic Green Patch Plus, which has everything listed above, and I add Deer Radish for early attraction and to help keep weeds at bay. thumbup The blends from local coop may be a little cheaper but they lack a decent amount of brassicas and other late season food. I tried them before but found these two to be my go to. Some years I’ll switch out GPP for Full Draw or Outfitters Blend but I always add Deer Radish. Works well for me.

Anyone have a recommendation of someone who carries 50# bags of cereal rye? Couple of places I pass by/stop on the way to Evergreen from Mobile don't carry it.

Which "weeds" are you keeping at bay in a fall plot of cereal grains?

You obviously can’t read mr throw and mow. grin I didn’t say cereal grains keep weeds at bay. There is more than cereal grains in the products. Deer Radish is not cereal grains and it does helps keep weeds at bay. Works in the soil to promote nematodes. Won’t eliminate weeds but it helps the soil some. Mr. Throw and Mow. rofl rofl rofl

Several yeas ago I built a very simple gravity feeder it was a 4" PVC with a 90 at the bottom attached to a tree a couple feet off the ground. The deer would not touch it. Pics of coons all over it. Deer would eat what was on the ground but only after the coons spilled it out. I just started pouring it on the ground and the deer ate it up then. Now it is spin cast feeders for me.

Ummm...... I didnt say that either.....Maybe I'm not the one with the reading issues.......I asked which weeds are you having to keep at bay in a fall plot of cereal grains???

You sound like someone just making a sales pitch trying to steer folks away from the local co-op blends.....

After you broadcast the seed, what do you to to cover the seed?

Ask for elbon or abruzzi rye, if they don't carry or can't get it, they're only pretending to be a seed and feed store
