You hunters should be prepared with freezers full of meat.

Should be, but not everyone is. And when chit goes sideways in the next 14 days, getting caught killing a deer in March would be the least of my concerns.

My brother lives about an hour north of Atlanta. Their Kroger was emptied of meat Saturday afternoon. We'll see more of that in the coming weeks.

Got plenty. We'll be pure carnivores if need be.

May be no power to the freezer. I will start eating on my wife's steer. He's about 2000 lbs. That will last awhile. Then cows will start falling. When they are gone, donkeys will come on the menu.

Donkey is supposed to be some of the best tasting meat in the world.

Re: Who's hitting the woods for groceries tomorrow? - 03/16/20 01:25 AM

Probably have to eat the donkey before the steer. I brought the steer home a few days old in a dog box. My wife raised him starting with a bottle. He kept up with if not surpassed other calves his same age in weight. That was unusual. Now, she won't let me do anything with him and he loves all people. A 2000 lb lap dog. Comes running when he sees someone and you better get out the way because he can't stop as fast as he thinks he can. He just wants someone to scratch him and he's good.

My wife thought it was crazy for me to have 25 gallons of rice and 50 gallons of beans in 5 gallon buckets and in sealed mylar bags. that along with no telling how many cans of chicken, tuna, salmon, and spam should get us thru for a while if it comes down to it
