Taxidermist recommendation for Bobcat - 01/28/20 07:05 PM

Anyone care to recommend a good taxidermist in central AL for a Bobcat mount?
I've seen some good ones and some really bad ones.
Thanks.

I've always heard that cats are what separate good taxidermists from average ones.

Joel Stone in Leeds. He did a great job on my deer and he had several bobcat mounts in the shop. Looked great.

Adam Cochran with Scattered Oaks Taxidermy does a good one in my opinion.

Why is it so hard for taxidermists to get Bobcats eyes right?

I think it's because the pupils are vertical and hard to set correctly. The cheap eyes don't look very realistic either.

The only guy I’d let touch a bobcat won’t do them anymore. They’re the hardest North American animal to mount. 90% or more of mounts look pathetic.

Rhett Kelly did one for me probably 10 years ago. It is the best one i have seen and has held up great. He did great on a coyote for me as well.

Not central Alabama but if you want someone who can make him look so alive you'll think you can hear him purring , call Stan Gross in Scottsboro. Here's some of his work , made him look better dead than when he was alive! Ain't many Taxidermists that can pull this off.

Don Stevens wife, Jessica, is an artist with cats. She used to work with/help in Joel Stone's shop and might still do so. She's won numerous awards for her work, as has Don.

They're actually not that hard to mount.
