In a tripod watching the SE face of a big hill that was planted in pines last winter. I have 2 bucks killed already so it’s gonna have to be a really good one now.
Happy Bday Sanderson. Back in a tree I shot the 7 out of a few weeks ago. Thinned bottom between foodplot and bedding.

Happy Bday! Back at it again with my hunting buddy - he’s hunted hard and been a good sport this year but I’m not sure how many more times I can convince him to get up thinking today is the day. Here’s to hoping he gets a shot at one this morning!!

Dead for me here in Macon County. Don’t expect to see much since a truck full of Road poachers were out in force this morning at 4 am. Heard the truck stop 4 times in less than a mile firing multiple shots while I was letting the dog out. Second time in two weeks this has happened.

You need to do like these 2 poor little spikes are doing with this doe. You need to put your head down and nudge her in the side.

I wish our whole place was one big 2yr old clearcut. I love hunting clearcuts.
What a difference two days makes. The other day when I shot my buck I saw several bucks. Some were chasing some were cruising. Today I’ve seen 11 does and yearlings just out feeding or walking around and one spike out piddling around. Crazy how it goes from smoking hot to dead

Yep, some are. I dont think anyone's seeing tons, but there's deer here I just can't ever seem to get on 'em. To be fair, I've hunted other places where folks saw/killed deer and I never seemed to.....I think I just stink at hunting. Lol. Or maybe I just stink

I’m back on a doe mission with black powder pistol this evening, sat with my granddaughter this morning and didn’t see anything
I have 10 of the prettiest green fields that I’ve ever planted and had hundreds of pics right up till the week before the juvenile hunt and ain’t had a pic or a single track in a greenfield since. Beats anything I’ve ever slept with! I prefer the woods but it’s making it discouraging for the less experienced hunters in the family

Chilton co
Maybe in the morning when the sun comes up I'll be in a cutover and one strolls through
Got a decent 8pt in Macon County at about 4pm. He was trailing a doe. Before him I saw a smaller 8pt and a spike come through. It appeared to be on like donkey kong today.

Excellent day hunting with my Dad. Passed on a mature busted up 7pt that used to be a 9pt. Dad saw one of our big 6’s and let him walk both this morning. We doubled up on does this afternoon. Our rut has been over for 3 weeks or so. Dad is 76 and we had a blast.
Good day...

Re: LFTT-1/25 - 01/27/20 03:00 PM
Congrats to all the deer killers. I hunted the entire day, and didn't see my first deer until 4:30. Very surprised given the level of rut activity we had been seeing. I did end up seeing a 7 point, but he looked young and a little skinny (although he had a beautiful rack) so I decided to let him grow up a bit.
Going the final weekend, although I know that will be post-rut. Been a great season so far!
