Supposed to get colder by 7am here. Windy and a 30° temp change. Hope the deer will be moving. Excited about this morning going to sit with my dad for the first time I’m prob 15 years. Gonna sit on a hill on the ground over looking some thinner pines

Not sure im wanting to fight the wind again today. May go later

Hoping the cold front has them moving. Wish the wind would lay down a tad.

Back at it in the same stand I missed one yesterday. I got my son with me today so I’m pretty sure I won’t be shooting. Windy as all get out!

Saw a buck on the drive in and had two doe at the stand. It is windy but they're moving.

Saw 3 on the way in right at daylight

Only 30 minutes into the hunt, and I'm already in my stash 😯

Temps dropped about 4 degrees since I've been in.

Wanted to sit in ladder in woods, but wind was 15-20 early. Went to shooting house on planted pipeline, deer are moving, 5 doe, 4pt and 8pt, so far

2 small bucks and two deer that we couldn’t really tell about so far. Got my 11 year old in a box trying to stay out of this cold wind. Probably our best stand for seeing bucks this time of year.

Feeder goes off at 8. Time for some breakfast.

Been up since 5:15. Small bucks chasing. No shooter.

Nothing moving last night or this morning yet near abbeville in Henry Co. Sure is blowing through!

Nothing so far. Temp has dropped to 39 degrees here now.

Nothing here either. Which is weird for where I’m at because it’s been deer on cam on a regular here. My does ain’t even showed up this morning.

Got to club in lowndes later than expected so took what was left. Plot next to a creek surrounded by thick stuff. Planning to sit til noon then put Janet in a stand later. Saw lots of tracks in the road on the hellacious muddy drive back here in the Ranger. Got kinda dicey a time or two. Two 8 points were killed yesterday down here so they are starting to stir a little.

Thanks! Been hunting here with my in-laws for about 8 years now. I’ve had minimal success, but my father-in-law always gets a couple nice ones. Deer here seem very pressured and totally shut down once firearms season begins. This is my first trip up during the MLK day weekend, so I’m cautiously optimistic!

Had a small buck running a doe... otherwise quiet on my part of the mountain.

I had every intention to get up and go this morning. Turned the alarm off and woke up @ 8am. Oh well, maybe this afternoon

I got and got down. This evening is debatable with high winds.

Had to load some hay we sold this morning im in truck watching in between his trips

No deer just a bunch of danged old longbeards 😩 I'm gonna hang out about another half hour or so....

Morning started with a young 8 closely following a doe just after sunrise. Doe circled around down wind, busted me, buck ran off after her. 20 minutes later, little button buck following the trail of the 2 earlier deer. Couple more doe slid through around 7:30, 20 minutes later little spike bolted by right underneath my stand with two dogs in tow. Never seen them before, no collars. After an hour or so of no activity and not liking the wind and setup,, climbed down and made it back to the house to grab corn and refill feeders around the farm...got done dumping corn at one spot and a tall 6 runs up to me, hits the brakes about 40 yards away staring at me standing on my 4 wheeler, empty corn sack in hand. 🤷‍♂️ Guess he was ready for lunch.

Moved out of the small house. Moved to a big one. Just finished lunch and gonna watch some football and cut corn field with a green field.

Moved closer to bedding. Got a few on camera in day light the last 3 days.

Back at it this afternoon. Hoping they will move early and often. Good luck to all y’all getting after them this afternoon.

Well I’m in the woods for only second time this season. Setup on the ground watching a gap between two bedding areas. I can see about 800 yards so I like my chances of seeing something. I did see and almost hit a good 8pt about 11:30 this morning as I was leaving the house.

Setting on the north facing brow of the mountain looking off onto a big flat just above some thick crap and at the head of a draw. Finally got a good wind to hunt this place, been seeing deer out in the pasture here most evenings. Maybe they'll be back at it today too.

Used to be I’d be all aboard for days like this. Today got a fire going watching football got the dogs laying by the fire and wife on the couch. Just not into it like I used to be. Those hunting outta be a pretty sit this pm

Ended up seeing a button head, doe, and a quailman special (spike). Didn’t see 1st deer until 1105. I’m back on a different part of property now. Ran 2 deer (does or button heads) out of the plot at 230. We’ll see if a shooter shows up...

I’m just south of town on CR 99. Mornings have had some good movement, evenings have been slow last 2 days. Hope this dropping temp has on their feet before dark.

Got my little girl with me today she has been hunting hard this yr hoping to see one she wants to shoot.

Oldest was home from college and wanted to go hunting. The deer here came and ate the rice bran after I left this morning. Hopefully something will come back

In a shooting house over a large green field. Got 13 deer in it already

In a ground blind with the wife this evening and she already done had a laughing spell... maybe it didn’t run too many off, been some good bucks on camera here lately just ain’t had the right wind. It’s in our face for the most part fingers crossed for her to get her first buck.

Been in the stand since about 2:30 saw a buck and some does on the way in. Hopefully this wind will die down soon but just thankful for some cooler temps

I let a 10pt walk a few weeks ago cause he’s only 3.5 pretty sure someone killed him already hard to regret anything worse than that.

I've never let a 10pt walk I did let a 3yr 7 go last year cuz he had been running with a stud but he wouldn't go 110...id normally kilt him

Yeah. I’m a cross between a red neck and a thug. We rarely unload guns.
3 does for me this evening. I can’t get a buck to follow one of these heifers out.

Thanks fellas.. just happened to be at the right place at the right time.. just finished cleaning him and he was wore down. His balls didn’t have much hair on them and his legs were missing hair were he had been breeding does.. Hoping to take my son tomorrow so he can get one..

All mine are loaded...Every.Single.One...Heard plenty of shooting on Pelham today, cold weather has them moving....

Oh I got a magazine full just not one in the pipe.

I did this a mile from the shed. Walked back and got the tractor and pulled it out.
Walked back and got the golf cart and drove it to the shed.


Fired up the pressure washer and cleaned up my mess. Headed home at
4:30 and started frying backstrap. Sometimes it just ain’t meant
to be.

Closed out the day with 6 does, a spike, 2 6pts, and an 8 point. No shots but still a great hunt.

Well since this was only the second time i have hunted in Alabama this season i would have say yes , but to put Alabama hunting in perspective this only the second buck in 15 years killed off this hundred acres so it definitely ain't what it used to be but i am really happy today!

My wife killed her first one this evening, 2 year old 7 pointer.

I saw 11 total today. Biggest one was a 7in spike. A nice 8pt was killed this afternoon by probably the oldest member of the club.

Hunted East of Repton this afternoon. had a lone doe feed across the plot at 115, nothing following, then at 430 they started pouring into the plot, had 11 does feed until dark. No bucks seen, my buddy hunted the other side of our property and watched 6 does in some crp and a green field. Pretty strange to not have any bucks out with them. I also got real stuck, then the truck that pulled me out got stuck... I think the excitement of getting both trucks off the property was almost as good as killing a nice deer.

Wish I could say I worked hard for this... Hooked up the power steering on my old Ford and split firewood with Dad. Decided I would sit in my truck and watch my lil green patch behind the shop. I was looking at aldeer, glancing up now and then, and there he was. Chambered one up, settled on him and shot. He mule kicked and ran at me then turned into the woods... I knew he was headed to a 4year old cutover and was dreading to go after him.

I went and talked to dad cause he heard the shot and walked out on the porch. Waited a little bit then went looking and he didn't go 10' into the woods. 120ish yard shot and he went 40 yards

Hey man..keep optimistic. A bad year turns into a GREAT year in less then a minute! One good buck chasing the right doe or half stepping and its all good. I was doing poorly earlier this year. Changed in ONE MINUTE!
