Automatic feeder times

Automatic feeder times - 10/22/19 07:24 PM

After talking to the owner of the hog camp in Georgia, I have a plan for timing the feeder. I will only let out 3 lbs once a day at 7 am. Also I didn't want it too early cause if a deer shows up 30 min early I still want to be in the stand before then. This is based on what he said about how if you feed in the evening or have food out all the time deer will likely wait until dark. While if only a small amount is left in the am they will feel like they need to get to it early as to not miss out from squirrels and turkeys. Etc. Getting it first. I think this makes a lot of sense. Anyone else have a reason they feed at certain times? Do you think it matters at all?

Place your feeder near a known bedding area where you can get in and out without disturbing the deer. Set the feeder to go off at 7:30am (6:30 after the time change) not sure how this works for eastern time. You will have bucks eating there every single morning. I've been doing this for several year with great success. right now I have a feeder with 8 bucks hitting it at 7:35am. 2 for sure shooters.

I set mine at the farm for 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM, and I generally run 5-7 seconds during the season. That's about 2-1/2 to 3 lbs per day, and a single fill will last me about 90-110 days

15 sec at 6am and 20 sec at 3pm. By the time cold weather hits I’ll move the afternoon spin to 2 and during the rut will spin about a minute a day between the two

Mine is set for 20 sec at 7am and 15 sec at 12pm. Very rarely have night photos. Pretty much the same deer come every day rarely and new ones though.

Looks like some master baiters around the state.

I’ve stopped feeding the coons with the late afternoon setting. Running all of them for 20secs at 8am daily and have seen the daylight pics go way up.
