I used a very old rattle bag made by Hunter Specialties, and by old I mean at least 20 years old.

I've never rattled before, but I have some old antlers that I've spray painted black to use this year. I don't want to be carrying white antlers around the woods with me in rifle season.

I’ll preface this by saying I’m not the most experienced deer hunter; however, I’ve had great luck with the following rattle. I like how it packs together and doesn’t make sound unless you’re rubbing it together. I typically just latch mine to a back pack strap using the connection it already has. I may be biased because I called the first deer I killed in with the pack rack.

Anyone ever made their own rattling bag with cutoff deer tines?

I use real antlers (a 2.5 yo six pt I killed maybe 10 years) and I cut off the eye guards so I don’t mash my fingers. Tied together with 550 cord

The first buck I killed rattling was a nice 8 pt so I decided to use his antlers as my rattling antlers.

I use a shed set I found. Brow tines cut off and tied together with para cord. I only take antlers during the rut, but I carry a rattle bag in my pack all the time just in case

Have never called in a deer rattling, but I want to this year. I've been running cameras more and from what I've seen deer will spar as soon as velvet comes off. Gonna try the ole tickle em together method one day next to some thick stuff.

my wife used to use a very small eight point set, just tickled em. No pound noise at all. She rattled up and killed a 140" eight point one fine morning in early season.

I rattle all season long , light subtle early and post rut. Loudly just before and during the rut.

young 8pt sheds. I had a mature set of sheds I used to use. Never rattled in a thing with them. The small sheds does the trick.
