2 man Ladder Stands - 10/16/19 05:25 PM

Need some recommendations for a solid/comfortable 2 man ladder stand. I have researched online and the reviews are mixed on several of them. I don't want to spend $400 on a millennium but just want something that is similar and comfortable in the $150-$250 range if there is something like that out there. Anyone purchased one recently that can provide a review of it? Thanks.

I just put together a Bolderton from Sportsman's Guide that I got for me and my daughter this year, haven't sat in it yet, but it sure seems like it's going to be plenty comfortable. It's on the low end of your price range.

I have 2 that I got @ Academy for around $110.00 that are solid and fairly comfortable. Good stand for the money.

I’m a fan of buying the cheapo stands and spending your money making it quiet and comfortable. I have around $160 in each of my doubles and they’re silent getting in and out with gel seats

I like the x-stands. There are a couple in that range that are good. check out their website. This one at SG is really a good choice, just slightly more than your price range:

I've really been pleased with the Muddy ladders that I've been using the last few seasons.

the $100 guide gear stands have worked fine. just check the bolts every couple years. I'm not as big of fan of the muddy stands cause I think the mesh seats get dangerous when the stand ages. my favorite is the big dog stadium xl. but it is $$$. I like it cause it wraps the tree and keeps the bole behind you. some of these doubles are so wide and are always not on the biggest trees so you end up looking like a turd in a punch bowl.

have about a dozen 2 man stands on our place and if I'm bowhunting by myself I prefer a single ladder stand but the doubles are great to take kids out or rifle hunt out of. just remember to strap the kids in.

We have multiple X-Stands. All single 20’ and one 2 man 20’. This is the 2 man we have. It’s a BEAST lol. (I have a buddy in the business so I don’t pay retail). We pull all of these type stands EVERY year as we want them to last. They have been very good stands. I can sit in any of them that have the footrest from daylight till dark.

The $90 Big Man at Cabela’s. I buy extra plastic washers at Lowe’s to keep anything from squeaking. I buy pipe insulation and soft Camo tape to run up the ladder so there’s no metal on metal when I climb. I put burlap around the shooting rail. I buy the big gel set at Wilbon outdoor in cullman and put the one that comes with it on the back for back padding. I also put two extra ratchet straps on it so it’s rock solid on the tree. By the time I’m done it’s silent getting in and out plus it’s extremely comfortable. That setup runs about $160 per stand.

I'll admit that I haven't done it yet, but I bought a lock on at a thrift store for $8 that I plan on hanging beside a single ladder that I already have for my boy and I to hunt out of. I can't think of a downside. cheap lock-ons can be bought for $40-60 and can turn any single you already have into a double.

Funny you say that because I already have a pretty nice single where Im trying to put the double at. My wife and eventually my son will be hunting with me this year and I just figured I would replace the single with a double. May look into the lock on though.

The only downside is that the POS fails and you fall. Other than that they're great.

It appears the Envoy has been replaced with the Big Buddy

What POS, the $8 thrift store stand? It was brand new in the box. I'm no more worried about it than any other stand.

I’ve done that several times.
