Y'all splain sumpun - 09/14/19 02:50 AM

This rut talk got me studying on well the rut in our playground off Alabama.
I live and hunt in East Central bammer and run my cameras all year round for the most part.usually we start seeing fawns in bout July however this year I been getting fawn pics as early as April up till now .
Which leads me back to my old theory that the deer mainly do a lil ruttin all season from November to February
I would assume that is part of the reason we don't hardly see a true rut like say in the midwest.and is partly because of the different deer that introduced during the restocking of deer in the 60's. on the other hand I have been lucky enough several times to be in the woods at the magic time and saw it unfold, but I would also think that even after the restocking of deer from different areas there would be enough time pass for the herd to settle itself into it's own but that ain't happened yet neither

I’m across the river from ya. Bout the same here, but u get North if Hollis or Micaville, totally different time frame. Different deer was located in different areas many moons ago. Only thing I can figure.

Ya thinks genes introduced from the 60's still dominate? Many states, many years ago, have transplanted deer. And still rut normally in Nov.

Not sure I've only seen bucks dogging does about 3 times all my life and I hunt a LOT...but I hear different friends close every year see em during jan so I think it's hard to really know what's goin on...but I could swear I missed the rut most years although I was huntin

Y’all pm nighthunter and get a conception study done. It’ll blow your mind! We were with y’all never could understand why we didn’t see rut activity mid to late January cause that’s when it’s supposed to be. Come to find out our rut peaks around Christmas, and the 2 weeks between 12/15 and 1/1 are when you need to be in the woods. We never really hunted then cause we thought December doldrums and the holidays got in the way but we’ve beeen Hunting it since the study and we see grunting, fighting, chasing, snort wheezing. Things we never thought we would see. [Linked Image][Linked Image]

I'm just waiting for it when it comes. I love to see people argue about it. They say... no! It hasn't come yet! Not yet! You're a fool! Then all of a sudden they say everyone missed it! Haha

Only place I’ve ever hunted and actually see chasing around the same time year in and year out is North Central Coosa County and it’s about the 3rd week of January. Few miles west of Ashland I’ve seen chasing anywhere from December 10th till the middle of January. I still have no clue when it happens in Tallapoosa county
