The sale is from anywhere. With that said, it's the lowest rated cam in their cellular line up. Trailcampro sales them and they even gave it a 69/100 rating. All of their cellular cams were on sale for the last week or so, guessing they still are.

Sorry it was bass pro. Thought I had typed that.

Re: Spy Point Micro - 08/02/19 03:01 PM

without having to go and research, what is so bad about them? I need a cheap cell camera to put in IL so i dont have to drive to check the card.

Re: Spy Point Micro - 08/02/19 03:48 PM

Im not saying they're bad but, basically trailcam pro review stated good detection range, 74/100 pic rating, 40/100 battery life so, id say battery life took the score so low.

Here is my assessment. I purchased two spypoint link a cameras last year. Had nothing but problems out of them for 6 months. Hated them. From January til now, they’ve functioned perfectly with the new software update. With lithium batteries, we get about 3 months of battery life on fields or feeders taking a lot of pictures.

So, with that knowledge, I purchased a link micro about a month ago. Realizing that I may have to return it. It’s taken probably 4K pictures, has 100% battery left at this point, and I can’t tell any difference between it and the more expensive link w. So, I’ll probably buy a couple more with this sale going on. I would just make sure to purchase from a box store so you can return it in case something happens.

I second Atoler's statement. I've been running two micro link's for about two months now and they work great.

Thanks for the update... Good to know

Re: Spy Point Micro - 08/02/19 06:57 PM

will they still function like a normal camera if i cancel data plan?

Re: Spy Point Micro - 08/02/19 07:04 PM

Todd, the data plan on all link cameras give you 100 transfers free a month. Then every picture after that will be just like a normal trail camera. Spy point's cameras always get a knock on battery life because they don't use as many batteries as other brands typically do. I am not affiliated with Spy Point, but just like what I get for the money. My biggest advice is for the link evos to run the software update when you buy it. Some are not up to date when you buy them. I would assume all of the micro cameras should be since they are still new.

Re: Spy Point Micro - 08/02/19 09:26 PM

My micro link was not updated, and didn't send pictures until it did. No big deal. One phone call and 24 hours later, I'm all good! Cameras been there for six weeks and have 50% battery life.

Re: Spy Point Micro - 08/04/19 09:53 PM

We run about ten Link-Evo cameras on our farm in Kentucky and we just put out last week the new micro to see how well it would do for the money. Early or late low light time of the day the picture is not great, but you tell if a deer is worth killing. Lithium batteries are the only kind we run and the battery life seems to be very good as long as you are not transmitting every detection. The most important thing I would say when buying a cell camera is go ahead and get the long range antenna even if you have okay service where you plan to put them. I would give the Link-Evo a 8/10 and the micro a 7/10. Also download the firmware on the SD card it will eliminate a lot of your problems with transmitting. Yes they will work if you don't but ours quite after a month of having them in the field. After with downloaded the firmware on all of our SD cards we have zero problems.

I'm on the fence between the Spy point micro for the price after reading some bad reviews on Academy website that are very recent. Bad pictures and poor battery life. One guy says he put out and took one picture before it stopped working. Some other reviews were good so I don't know whether to chance it. For $119 I may spend another $90 and get the Cuddeback instead. I've had good experience with Cuddeback. I'm doing more research as the price is good for the Spypoint .

Has anyone had an issue purchasing their data plan on the Spypoint Micro? I clicked on the link in the app to purchase and it said upgrade denied and told me to contact customer service. I have done this just waiting on their response.

I bought a Spypoint micro from Academy yesterday on the way to Illinois. Set it up in the truck headed up there. Would not send pics. Called them the next morning before we started walking property. It need the firmware update. They updated over the phone and she set it up to receive pics at 0900. It worked. Sent about 30 pics of me in the truck. Here is a pic I got this morning from the edge of a bean field. Not bad for $119 to leave out of state. I’ll leave my new Coverts in Alabama. 😜

That is definitely not a bad picture for $119. That's what I plan on using mine for. So among all of you with the Spypoint Micro, are all of you satisfied or anyone think they're garbage. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the Spypoint Micro or the Cuddeback cellular. Spypoint is cheaper. Seems like most of you like it for the money.

Re: Spy Point Micro - 08/11/19 05:58 PM

I have 2 , they have never skipped a beat. They HAVE to have 2-3 bars of signal to work reliably. For whatever reason they don’t have the reception of a moultrie or spartan. Buy the antenna just to make sure you get the best out of the camera

Re: Spy Point Micro - 08/13/19 01:26 AM

I bought one to try out and could never get the damn app to open?? It would say connecting but would never connect, deleted and re downloaded 3 times with no luck..returned it for a stealth cam.

So one gets 100 pictures a month for free?

I'm guessing one can buy an additional plan as well for more pictures?

*Edit* Looked at Spypoints plans and see one can add pics. However the map basically shows all of Alabama is covered?
I'm guessing once one enlarges the map, there are multiple areas in Alabama not covered?

God Bless,
David B.

Re: Spy Point Micro - 08/17/19 05:36 PM

If my phone has 4bars my spypoint will have 2bars. Some places on the north facing slopes and hollers spypoint has no signal where my phone has a fairly good signal.
