I shot one about that size in the 80's with a 54 muzzleloader. The owner couldn't catch it and the landowner told me to shoot it if I saw it while deer hunting. Couldn't even eat the dang thing, a 1/2 inch square of meat grew to 2" while chewing.
One round ball to the chest, he ran 100 yards and down. It was a sum buck to move and clean.

seen one like this running around Mulberry wma back several years ago and at the end of the day it was laying in a gas well road where someone had dropped some lead into him
