Opening day buck - 11/19/18 08:11 PM
Well, after not killing a buck last year, the Lord sent a dandy my way opening morning. I was sitting on the top of a ridge littered with white oaks. I hung a climber there in bow season and saw some does and pigs. When I hung the stand,I saw pigs there and shot one,and when I hunted it,i saw pigs there and shot 2 more. It's one of the few places I have a stand that I dont have a camera. I honestly expected to see pigs again opening morning, and go to town on them with a rifle. After seeing a few does and a spike opening morning,I got to watch a yote chase a rabbit around in a thicket. That was really cool. He never caught the rabbit either while I was watching. About 20 minutes after the yote left, this guy showed up walking the ridge coming directly to me. One look at the rack, and I knew I was going to try and take him. I shot him at about 60 yards, but I think he wouldve walked right under me if I'd let him. He's the widest racked buck I've ever killed and I'm tickeled with him. Had a ton of family up at camp with us,so we included everyone in getting him out of the woods. Thankyou Lord!!
