Trail Camera Help - 09/23/18 10:35 AM

Looking for tips and tactics for camera placement. I've had one camera out for two weeks in two locations with 0 deer. Probably shows my poor scouting skills, but I am trying to improve. It would be nice to have suggestions for getting pics where no food is put out as well as for locations where food is put out. The area I hunt is on the river so it's relatively swampy with not much for hard woods and high ground.

Look for animal trails to set them up on. I usually put mine about thigh-high. Pour out some liquid deer cane. They will still have some interest in it for a few more weeks.

Put some corn out and you'll have plenty of pictures. If your in Alabama I think you have to be a certain distance away from it if your hunting and can not be able to see it.

I pit a camera about 50yds deep in the woods where does come out almost every evening during season. I was thinking bucks would stage there and wind check does without being seen. I didnt really put it on a well used trail, I thought, just an open spot in some pretty thick brush where a camera could see a good area. I havent put any feed down. I have got more pictures here than anywhere else. Deer, coyotes, dogs, coons, bobcats. Everything seems to come through this spot. Its 50yds out of a field and maybe 150yds away from a paved road. Nevertheless, sometimes the last place youd think they would use regularly is the place they use the most.

Put some corn out. Its a new location so I am just trying to identify whats in the area. I'll stop putting corn out before I hunt the area.

You better make sure there ain't 1 kernel on the ground before you hunt it...that all The Man needs to bust your tail.

If you can find a white oak with some poo under it, you're in business. Or even some water oaks.

Won’t help this year but mineral licks are goldmines for getting pictures. I’m getting around 2k pics a week on two licks
