Kinda Sad - 02/11/18 10:11 PM
Took down climbers this year. It was a rough year for me. Had a run in with a good buck in October and twice in December (same buck) but never could make it happen. Just a down year overall in terms of sightings. Going to have to do something different between now and next season. It seems we have some deer but they don't utilize our property during daylight hours. Cameras are confirming this. It's low pressure but we are missing something. I guess we have plenty of time to work on it.

Some years it seems easy other years it makes me question if I’ve ever killed a deer. Lol

It certainly was not my best year, I had a 8 point I had been watching
On camera come in at the right time but he had is right side broken
Off so he will be a really big one next year,,,other than seeing does and a
Few small bucks my season was off.
With that said I still had a great time hunting with my sons both
In there 30s and the. great men and women in our camp.
To me a off season hunting was greater than a list of Honey Do’s
Which I now have,,
CONGRATULATIONS TO THOSE THAT HAD A GREAT SEASON!!!!

Very poor year for deer sightings and even worse for having big deer on camera for me.

Youll be back.
I had a relatively good season. Killed a doe and 2 bucks. Unfortunately 1 of the bucks was injured and infection had consumed most of his body. It was gross. Had to toss it so only got to keep 2 deer worth of meat. Struck out in bow season, again. Overall with my kills and sightings it was a good year for me.

You'll get it figured out Josh. That's a tough place to hunt but think you'll be rewarded if you keep after it.

I missed one too lol. Me my uncle and a buddy hunts this tract. These are all of our stands. I think we each own three so it adds up quick. What's funny is that most of these were only hunted twice.

Not giving up, just need to change tactics. If we can pick up the North 500 acre tract then we can really keep the pressure down. We haven't planted spring plots in a couple years. I think it's time to start doing that again.

I really can’t say my season was sad but I can definitely sympathize with you. After passing up a few decent bucks during the opening gun season in Illinois all the while banking on the second gun season I came down with the flu and coughed and hacked the whole second gun season. My Alabama season was exactly what it has been for years now......very few deer sightings with all mature bucks being completely nocturnal until around January 30. I did see and have a chance at a mature buck on Feb 8 ( I screwed that up) and about one chance at a mature buck is about all you can hope for around here. As far as nocturnal good luck with changing that I believe around here that is a learned habit from there mommas because we have done just about everything imaginable to try and reduce pressure to change that without much success.

I had a great season, granted I didn’t get to hunt AL near as much as I wanted. Ended up killing a doe in MS with the crossbow, a spike in SC on public ground with the muzzleloader, and a mature 7 in MO. Passed on some deer in AL because the freezer was full. I was more proud of the spike on public ground here in SC than the other two. Tried my best to get a friend on a deer in NC and he had chances but just couldn’t make it happen. Already planning for next season. Going to be getting after em in August in the low country.
