2 way radio suggestions

Cell phone service is basically non existent on our hunting property. Bought a cheap set from walmart. They work fine but make a annoying alert tone that cannot be turned off. And batteries didnt last long. Does anyone have a suggestion for something better. Just used for communication with hunting partner. Dont want an alert tone if possible.

Are you absolutely sure the alert can't be turned off? Try youtube for video showing setup of that same radio. Aside from that, I know for a fact that all the big sporting goods stores like Cabela's and BPS sell radios that allow the alert to be turned off.

Those baofengs are good little radios.

We got all fancy and now use goTennas... awesome technology, i have the older point-to-point, 4mi-range, look into it. I like that other than strapping the antenna on pack or vest, it's not an additional piece of equipment I have to hang onto. Keep phone in airplane mode and you can text away to folks in your group. I like the new mesh techology and hoping folks will buy into but doubt they will in the area we hunt.

Could you suggest a better one for the price, that also fits the OP's need?
