LFTT 12*16
In Cleburne county with my dad. Sitting in some planted pines watching a hardwood bottom. Heard several critters running when I walked in. Oh its cold.

Good luck this morning guys! Dense fog here in walker co. Judging by my trail cam photos this morning bucks were on their feet all night.
Present. Foggy here in Coosa county.
I'm back on our biggest field this morning. There's lots of scrapes on a hardwood ridge nearby and I'm mainly trying to catch deer crossing a road going toward those scrapes...a 3 year old 8 point and a small 6 point have came through already. They seemed to both be searching for a doe

Re: LFTT 12*16 - 12/16/17 08:17 AM
Just had about a 2 year old 6-8pt. Running a doe grunting. Pretty sure it’s same buck I saw last week in here grunting and following some does but he veered off. Now he’s sticking to her following.
Long walk in the cold this morning, walked my buddy to my prime spot. I just got set up at a different spot, Sitting between the river and the back side of a field. Hope sitting in this frost gets them on their feet. Good luck fellas!
So far 5 does/fawns and one super nice 8pt, it’s was too early/dark to make a good decision on age... I normally would’ve ground checked him but have a stud on camera at this spot, didn’t want to mess it up

I was running a little late and a small buck was pushing a doe all over a big field. That's hazardous to his health this close to public land

Weather conditions do appear favorable where I am. I was out feeding cows and no shooting....again, except ducks. A duck must be tougher than a Cape Buffalo because the guys around here can't kill one with a single shot.
A doe and fawn just came out into the big field. They're feeding like crazy on the frozen green field

Watching 5 gobblers feed here on Uwharrie NF. No deer between my friend and I. The rut is done up here. Ready to get back to Bama to try and get on some active rutting deer.

I agree. That’s a good area but not easily accessible. Especially if the water gets up.

Y'all better enjoy today if you believe some of these weather reports. Tomorrow wind turns to the East and rain all week. But I could have called this weather 2 months ago. Guy coming in to hunt next week and I've been seeing a really nice 8 about 4 yo, for some weeks now. I knew it wouldn't be this easy.

I was in a foodplot on the edge of some 8yo pines and a year cutover. Neck shot him at 150 yards out in the cutover just after 7:30. Waiting on help to get here to help me load the fat joker up.

I'm coming down at 10:00 to go help a good friend track a buck. He's in a club about 5 minutes from our farm...If it's the buck he thinks it is (from game camera pictures), I believe it'll go nearly 150"

I shot a coyote at 7:30. Saw no deer, but didn't sit long after I shot the yote. Pulling some cameras to get them on scrapes. They're close to busting loose here.

Saw a doe this morning. I'm heading into a bottom that is about 100yds wide. It's between 10yr old planted pines and a LARGE food plot. I saw a young 10pt there Tuesday morning. Maybe his dad will show up.

Got a newbie hunter this morning his first deer sighting since he's started hunting. He got busted hunting from the ground. He's stoked. This is my set for the afternoon. Going in blind for a ground sit.

Yes, it must've been a bad hit...Deer was 25 yds away and facing the hunter when he shot. He could tell one shoulder was broken as the buck ran off...I tried to get my buddy to call a dog immediately when we found bone at the shot site. He wouldn't do it...We tracked lots of blood and bone for probably 500 yds and finally jumped the buck. So, now, we've got in touch with David Jones and he's going to try and come track the buck after David gets off work this evening...We should've been calling David at 11:15, not 1:30

That sucks. Maybe the deer is hurt worse than just his leg. Are you going on the track with them? It could get real interesting and be fun to watch.

No, I'm out for going back with them. I'm hunting this afternoon, then heading home...I feel sure that they'll find the buck, but he might still have a little life in him

Oh yeah, unless he ran onto another property or across a road after y’all jumped him, they’ll very likely find him. Those hits are usually about like following a gut hit. They put off a lot of scent. Hopefully they’ll be able to finish him off.

Hunting behind the house. Fell asleep on the couch and woke up at 3:50. There was a doe about 10 yds from the back porch when I headed out
I'm back at the grown up sage field. I checked my camera here today and I've got a nice 8 point coming to these scrapes. I hope he checks them before dark today!!

Oh, yeah I was wondering why you would pass up a 10 at our place, lol

They had some hiccups trying to get someone to come track (most everybody had Christmas parties, etc. last night), but they recovered the buck...He crossed a big creek and was barely alive 75 yds across that creek. The buck was so weak that he couldn't get up. The dog got the deer by the neck and the hunter stabbed the buck.
I guess the angle of the trail camera threw us off on our estimates, as we felt sure he would score 145"+. My dad saw the deer in person this morning and he says it's still a little bit bigger than the 138" buck I killed 3 weeks ago...This is the only pic I've gotten so far, but it doesn't look that big here. I guess the camera is fooling me again...He's still a stud of a buck and I'm happy for my buddy, Chaise!! This is by far his best buck ever.

Agreed I'd say closer to 150"
None of these pictures do the deer any justice! His mass is incredible...We just finished scoring him: 148 5/8"
