Too cold!! I'm not sitting in this cold this time of year. Believe I'll just feed animals and move some dirt later.

Just shot a coyote. Time to watch for deer now
It's been one of those mornings for me. The sole to one of my Lacrosse rubber boots fell off and I left my binos in the truck!!!

Set up on an oak ridge between two bedding areas. It got cut two weeks ago, tree tops and acorns everywhere, hope to catch on slipping through:

Tough morning. Maybe you'll see a biggun soon.
I'm going to wait til the frost burns off and walk behind the house and watch a thicket.

I'm on the ground hidden in a cedar tree looking down into a hardwood drain where 3 ridges run into it.

When you get older momma and the bed gets warmer and deer just don't matter that much. I'll go few afternoons until Dec 1 and start back mid Jan and will be serious then. But I don't have to hunt to be in the woods. I'm there everyday. Killing a deer...well, I'm just not going to put much effort in it now.
11 or 12 does here. Lost count watching them cross road into the swamp

It’s my opening day. The strap on my insulated over all’s broke this morning. 32 degrees and I’m in blue jeans. Every time I get ready to climb down I hear a squirrel and thinks it’s a deer. I really wish this sun would come on out yet I am Still thankful to get to be in the woods.

I haven't seen a single deer in 10 sits on a new property I started hunting. Camera sightings are low too. And this place has ideal habitat. Thick cover, pine thickets, creeks, hardwoods, food plots, etc. The unlimited doe season, 3 buck limit (which incentivizes killing even more does), along with more predators has absolutely demolished the deer herd in much of the state. They tried to fix an overpopulated southwest Alabama region and ruined hunting in the rest of the state.

I agree, its hard to even see deer on my main lease in butler county much less harvest a mature buck year in and year out

I've been hunting the same family land in Bibb comfort the last 25 years. We've done nothing but improve the habitat and add more and more acres of food. Sighting are down across the board the last 6 or 7 years. Same places we would see 20-30 in we now see 6 or 7. Places we used to see 6-7 we know see 0-1. We've only killed 1 doe on 900 acres thIs year including this opening weekend of rifle. And no, buck quality has not improved. We average killing less than 1 buck a year on 900 acres. Things were better before we started killing 10-12 does a year. Now it's a hard habit to break.

I agree some areas have been hit hard. I know we didn't kill them in the areas I see hurting. But what would hunters response be if the State shut down hunting in certain areas for 3 years to help the population rebound if hunter/kills are to blame?

Just climbed into a ladder overlooking a new food plot. It’s right dab smack in the middle of 160 acres. 80 acres of pines to the west, 40 acres of cutover on the NE and old growth hardwood to the SE.

Just got a text from my son. He killed a 5 year old 7 point behind our house about 20 minutes ago. Broke his left G2 off. Headed to help him load it up.

In Macon County sitting on a food plot, not my first choice, but with this wind my options were limited. Even if I don't shoot a deer I've got my dad, who doesn't hunt, with me which is exciting.

Beautiful afternoon. I mean, couldn't have drawn an afternoon up any better from a temperature, wind and moon aspect.
0 deer seen. I've yet to see a deer in 5 hunts on my lease.
Me and a buddy were out for a total of 7.5 hours today. Neither of us saw anything.

I feel ya. Same thing on my property. Couldn't ask for a better piece of property. Right on the river beautiful bottoms fine food plots and hardly any deer. I doesn't help a huge dog club is right beside us
