Not cool. I hated walking to my stand this am and couldnt see my feet.

Finally bought some snake boots a couple of weeks ago and sure was glad to have them this morning.

Not trying to sound like a jerk - but until you cut the head off a poisonous snake and dispose of it - they are still EXTREMELY DANGEROUS and can still bite. I have a very good friend that nearly died from a timber rattler bite while handling the severed head with about 1" of neck still attached. Head whipped around a bit him in the meaty part of his thumb. Spent 10 days in ICU, 10 vile's of antivenom and a tracheotomy... He's lucky to be alive.

Guy at our club was saying the same thing Saturday. The rattler that was dead in the road was still moving and he said it was still dangerous... I didn't chance it, so I parked on its head and cut the rattles off (it squirmed like hell when I put the knife to it)

Picked it up with a stick and placed on tailgate, wanted a pic with the head.. as soon as I snapped the pic I cut its head off and threw in the woods.

i was waiting to get into lockead martin(other side of troy) one day. One slithered up to the exact spot were i was knelt down just minutes before in the shade of the back security gate. Cut head off with a shovel. When i went to pick severed head up with the shovel. The head jumped in the air when it opened its mouth to strike. Gave me a new found respect for them bad boys.

Hell no I didn’t touch him with my hand, actually had one those trash picker uppers where you don’t have to bend down. I brought him home skinned him out.

There’s a video somewhere on YouTube of a copperhead chewing on its own body after being decapitated. They can bite hours after death. Great. Now I’m nervous about my walk into the woods today
