Father - Son OOS hunt

Ok, my son is getting old enough that I think we could do it now. Here is what I am thinking.

Either camp or cheap hotel/motel
Eating bologna sandwiches and what ever we can eat cheap
Maybe a 4 day hunt
Somewhere where we have a "chance" at decent deer

Thoughts? I have never hunted out of state but I think me and my son(fixing to be 13), could have a blast and make some memories with the chance at a good deer plus just seeing different terrain. I would go with a guide, but no way I can afford that plus he likes the survival type shows and adventures

Hunt and camp on q management area any where on the state it is permitted

IL or KY would be good options. If you decide on either one of those, pm me and I'll help you any way I can.

I'd vote for western KY. Reasoanbly close, and allow rifles. Big deer there too.
