Thought this was interesting ... - 03/24/17 07:05 PM

I was driving home on hwy 119 this evening and there's a doe feeding on the side of the road. Plenty of traffic in front of me both ways. I've seen this at least 100 times before and they always just ignore the traffic. I've even gotten on my horn before to let them know I was there because I didn't want them darting out in front of me. They always ignore me, horn or no horn. Well today, as I was approaching, she just happened to look up in my direction and we locked eyes. Man she couldn't get out of there fast enough! No hesitation at all, she was just gone!

So this immediately made me think of past threads where people have said "don't make eye contact with the deer!" I already believed it, this just supplied further proof.

We have them feed on the edge of the race track at Barber Motorsports Park with race cars on track. Not often but it does happen. The Canadian Geese will not move sometimes until we shut it down and run them off!

I have seen literally dozens of deer feed within feet of the blacktop on Hwy 80 and not raise their heads when an 18Wheeler blows their air horn.

When I hunted Choctaw county we would always drive to Linda's store (believe that was her name) in the am for breakfast, and nearly every morning we would see a big 10 feeding 20 yards off the side of the road. And he would take off if we slowed just a bit in my cousin's Ole truck, I swear it was the roar of the mud tires(My cousin had 38 swampers) changing as we slowed to take a look.

Haha hell I was around 18 and didn't tote no pistol lol..The Ole Club was called Turnertown at the time. My great aunt's husband had it for 20 plus years then let it go, I've heard it's a dog hunting club now. It's been a while and I don't remember the exact location but it had a dirt road that went through the property, there was a church near by and I wanna say it was purple grin

So you work at the race track?

I and 3 other guys ran all the plumbing in the museum years ago. Some other company had the contract for the race track so if it sucks don't blame me grin!

Oh yeah, all those deer over there are deaf as a post. I live within sight of lake Purdy and I don't need a race schedule because I can always hear it at my house.
