LFTT 1-22 - 01/22/17 05:39 AM

Well we made it thru the night. Sitting here sipping on a cup of coffee trying to get a plan together. My brother and I got the whole place to ourselves. So many options and and the winds are all over the place. Hopefully I make the right decision. If y'all go out today good luck and keep an eye on the sky.

I'm heading to a big ridge this morning. Rubs, and scrapes everywhere. Good luck to everyone.

Sitting in a box blind where I shot a buck last year. Hoping the Barbour WMA hunters push a few my way.

Took me a bit to talk myself into going out after being up half the night watching the weather. Already seen a doe and a spike.

Just got my first bj of the year. Spike came out and walked directly under me then decided he should look up. Then he just eases back the way he came stands there blows 4 times then casually walks away. He could have left out the blowing part.

Good luck guys! I'll be heading that way as soon as I get a better feel for the weather. If I wasn't taking kids today, I would have already been there.

Can't decide if I want to go or not. I'm looking at mixed forecasts right now, outside it looks fine but I don't want to hike all the way in and have to turn around and come back out.

Same here Jono23. I'm leaning toward a lazy afternoon at home with the kids.

One shot from the WMA at 8:00 AM today. Got the golf cart I use stuck in mud on the way out and had a 4.2 mile walk back to camp. One of our member's sons drove down from Montgomery and towed be out of the mud hole. Drying all my wet/muddy clothes out and will try a new spot this afternoon. One of our members saw 7 does and fawns from a tripod, and he went home and encouraged me to hunt it.

Shot this buck at 2:15 attempting to mount a doe. He was the 4th buck I had seen since 11:00 am. Saw a total of 9 deer from 11:00 until 2:15. A portion of his rack is missing on the left side. He would have gotten a pass if I had seen that before I shot. They came through some thick stuff from left to right so it hard to see all of his headgear.

How'd you do? I stayed in and gave em a pass today and cleaned a bathroom, straightened up the "hunting room", watched Julio Jones get to the Super Bowl, and drank a couple of beers! I'm off all next week and will be hunting for 8 straight days.

I ended up seeing 5 does and 4 young bucks. The bucks didn't mess with the does at all. I think we're still a week or so away from any good rut activity.

Well for all that kill their best bucks when it's coming a monsoon. All I can say is more power to u. Talked myself into going and saw 4 doe and 1 small buck around 9:30 before the rain. Rest of the day not shucks. Won't do it again. Ain't worth it.
