Headed out to a climber I hung yesterday on a old grown up plot loaded with scrapes. Nephew killed a decent 7 pt yesterday looking for does. Good luck everyone.

Sitting in a tripod overlooking some clearcut. My neighbors are shooting ducks and scaring the poop out of me.

I'm set up like looking over a creek bottom the bucks have been using. First scrapes I've found showed up on the ridge on the other side of this bottom. Looking for antlers this morn in Lee co

Sitting in my tree seat on the edge of a clear cut. Going to be a while until these bottoms clear of all the fog. Did get in here nice and quiet though. Looked at the wind map today and it's going to be all over the place. Mostly an eastward component.

On a clearcut in Southeast chilton. About one weekend too early for the prime of the rut but hoping to see some cruising bucks getting ready for it.

Seen 8 doe from the seat of my truck rolling west on I4 since day break....

Been here a while........back at this little powerline.
I let one of my target bucks, a big 9pt, slip across just as it got light enough to see good. He crossed about 250 yds from me....never stopped.
I have had a big, busted-up 4 or 5 yr old 5pt chase several does and fawns across since then. Have not had much time to post!!

Fog finally starting to lift and burn. Time to start glassing

In TN this morning. Got my little girl with me hoping to get her first deer. First time she has been the shooter. Had a doe come by about 645 but came by quick and never gave her a shot. Wish us luck.

I have seen a few does, but no bucks yet.

In a ladder stand this morning in Hamilton it's foggy and sopping wet. Was running a little late this morning but saw a nice buck and doe bedded out In the corner of the hayfield. I was getting my stuff out and thought I need to load my gun and about that time I look up and a decent little 8 is running a doe through the open gate 100 yards in front of my truck. I am set up on my ladder stand it was easy to see they ran within 50 yards of my stand hopefully they bedded in the little cut over in front of me and will slip back out shortly.

Spooked one on the way in,not sure what it was.I got turkeys all over me right now clucking and purrin.

I just heard one guy shoot 6 or 7 times. Just got blowed at but I haven't seen anything yet. I'm sitting on a 5 year old clear cut. This wind needs to make it's mind up so I can get down and go slippin. Good luck to errbody.

I'm live from the screened in porch, eating pancakes. Only crows in back field so far.

So far all I've seen is 4 million squirrels.

Got back from my slipping adventure and settled back in my tree seat. Pull out the glass and was looking a bit too sloppily and had a group of 4, 1 doe and three little ones, busting me dead to rights at 200 yards. Got a nice 10 minute bj from momma. Tried to put one in her face, but they ran when I moved.

On the upside, first time my binos helped me pick out deer, though. Wouldn't have seen them otherwise. I'm a believer

Side note: blowing back at deer, while it may confuse them, doesn't disarm them completely. Damn shifty wind says it's coming out of the southwest now, no wonder

Dang I suck first deer from the stand since Gun season and I freaking missed her.

Thanks for all the congrats. Definitely a day I will not forget. She made a perfect shot on this deer. Broke both front shoulders and the deer didn't make it 20 yards. This doe probably weighed more than any I have ever killed. I can honestly say I was way more nervous and excited than she was. She is hooked now and I am blessed man.

When I dropped her off at the processor, we looked at it. I figured her to be 4.5 but he thought she was 5.5 or maybe older.

My son and I just got in the stand here in Baldwin co. Short sleeve weather. Feels more like we should be turkey hunting. Checked a camera on the way in and we've got pics of a nice 8 and what appears to be a 3.5 yr old cow horn. Hopefully one of them will show up this afternoon.

I'm hunting at the farm this afternoon. Trying to beat the heat. I'm toughing it out.

Things done got serious:

Very blessed this morning. Heard turkeys gobbling from four different spots and saw several bucks. The rut is just about to kick off here and I was sitting looking down a firebreak where some pines 10-15 feet tall meet a hardwood bottom. Saw the first young 8 point about 7. He popped out of the pines, made a scrape, and went on down the creek. About an hour later I heard chasing back on the ridge I came in on and turned to see two young bucks pestering a poor doe. She wasn't receptive but they were going to make sure! While this was going on, a 2.5 year old 8 comes out of the thicket right next to me and crosses to see what the ruckus was. He checked the doe and decided she wasn't worth his time and went over the ridge. After he leaves, one of the younger bucks comes running back following the scent rag I drug in behind me. He gets to the creek where I crossed, and where I picked up the rag, and proceeded to run up and down the creek trying to find the trail. After he is gone for 30 minutes or so I had sat back down and caught movement back down where the early buck made his scrape. I couldn't see his head behind the tree but by his body thought him 3.5 years old. He stepped into the firebreak and I shot him about the time he put his nose up after catching my scent. I haven't shot a buck in about 7 years. I have shot many good ones over the years and passed one a little better than this a couple weeks ago, but there was something special about this morning that made me decide to shoot this one. It was certainly one of the best hunts I have had in awhile and one I won't forget.

I did a midday scout. Lots and lots of scrapes. I shoulda sen deer. Just carried the binocs. But my brother jinxed it by walking with me with his gun.

Wound up seeing a basket rack 8, and another big bodied deer that came out at dark.
