LFTT 12/28/16 - 12/28/16 06:05 AM

Fixing to head in to a plot in some 10 year old pines, they are beginning to chase and for some reason they like this spot

Re: LFTT 12/28/16 - 12/28/16 06:31 AM

Just got settled in my climber. Watching a couple draws that funnel right down in front of me. Thick pines on ridge to my right and beaver pond behind me. Couple good bucks working the area and plenty of does that are always in here. Good luck guys

Settled in where a couple of ridge fingers meet

Re: LFTT 12/28/16 - 12/28/16 07:27 AM

I'm overlooking a plot that's 75yds to my right and makes a dog leg in from of me out to 150yds. Surprisingly no signs of a rut here yet. Gona be a little late this year compared to the previous ones.

Back where I saw 2 small bucks last week. I know there is at least 1 good buck hanging around this area. Hope he shows up this morning.

Re: LFTT 12/28/16 - 12/28/16 09:40 AM

Good luck everyone!

I just woke up. Got a house full of people with the flu. I thought I was over it until I walked .5 miles into the woods yesterday afternoon. That was a very bad decision. Saw a really good one but no shot so that was good - I hurt a lot for it though lol.

Wife got the flu shot and has it bad. I have done them in the past and I always have a case of mini-flu right after. I'll pass...thanks anyway.

Re: LFTT 12/28/16 - 12/28/16 09:49 AM

That's odd. I have never gotten flu from flu shot. Now one year I got flu shot and got the strain of flu they didn't guess right on

Re: LFTT 12/28/16 - 12/28/16 10:00 AM

Yeah - it is not common at all. It's happened more often than not though so I'm spooked.

I think the wrong guess thing is what happened with the wife this year. She had the shot last year and didn't get it when it went around.

Re: LFTT 12/28/16 - 12/28/16 11:55 AM

They were running all over the place at my place in Pickens County this morning. Several does and a couple of bucks chasing them, are the reports I am getting from my Aunt and Uncle. What she called a "good" 8 chasing and a couple of small bucks. 20 deer seen between the two of them on 500 acres is not a bad morning though. I would say things are getting pretty heated up in Pickens County this week.

You don't get the flu from the flu shot.

We have seen a couple smaller deer behind does. Had a 6 point and a doe this afternoon but it's definitely slower then normal. Usually the 10 days surrounding Christmas it's on.

I haven't seen any chasing and hardly any scrapes. It's usually the same days for us. Last time I checked cameras I had does and bucks eating in a field on 12/22 not paying any attention to each other.

Same thing for us: 1.5 and 2.5 year old bucks feeding with does and not caring one thing about them...I killed a 13 point down there on December 6th and he had a swollen neck and was stinking, but that's the only buck we've seen older than 2.5

Re: LFTT 12/28/16 - 12/28/16 09:07 PM

We saw a decent buck at dark, but my wife couldn't ever find him in the scope. We needed him to come out 5-10 minutes earlier. Maybe he'll come out earlier next time
