Storing hunting clothing - 09/27/16 08:57 AM

How do you store your hunting clothes in the off season? I put mine in a large tote bin but they always have that plastic odor when I take them out. I know one guy who uses a vacuum sealer attachment and puts them in airtight bags. Another friend uses cedar blocks and green pine needles in his storage bins. I wash mine in unscented detergent (thanks for the recommendation Shaw) and air them out for a few days right before the opener. Any tricks you guys use?

I do the same. I store them in a plastic bin then a few weeks before the season I pull them all out and wash them with a good unscented detergent. I wash the bins out with a vinegar/water solution then leave them in the hot sun for a few hours. Then the clothes go back in for the season

At the end of the season I wash them then store in a plastic container that has a earth scent wafer hanging in it. the wafer is changed out weekly.

I use large ziploc bags. I place several earth scent wafers in each bag. Bins are not airtight . I store the bags in bins,

I do basically the same thing as y'all. Plastic tub, pines needles, and wash with unscented detergent.

I store mine in plastic bin and 2-3 weeks before hunting I'll hang 'em out side in the sun for a few hours and then big zip lock bags with a scent wafer or two in them.

I have used the same plastic tote for 12+ years. If you'd wash the tote out, the smell goes away.

Set the tote outside a few days....

Your boots brand new have a different smell then they should, but yet you adapt and fix it...

Yeah I adapt by wearing them.

Hang them in the closet. I seriously doubt anything people can do will prevent a deer from winding them.
