Gunsmith Recomendations - 08/24/16 03:25 PM

My Son hunts with a Wheatherby 7-08. Last season his gun fired twice when he kicked off the safety. The first time I wrote it off to the possibility that he had his finger on the trigger when he kicked off the safety, which he swore he didn't. The second time it happened I was looking right at his hand. Both times this has happened, he was about to fire on a deer. I have tried repeatedly to make it happen again and have been unsuccessful, however I know for sure this gun is not safe. I really need to let a good gunsmith take a look at it. I live just south of Birmingham. Do you guys have any recommendations of someone to take it to, preferably on my side of town.

I saw a while back that Bowhunter84 used Pender Precision located in Leeds. I've never used them so I can vouch for them, but you might could give them a holler.

I would think weatherby would fix that for free, in lieu of a lawsuit.

My thinking also.
Give them a call and see what they have to say.

I agree and I should have sent it back to Weatherby right after the season. However, I got busy and every now and then I would think to myself, that I really need to get that gun sent back. Anyway, fast forward 7 months and now I need to get it repaired in a hurry with the season quickly approaching. I figure a gunsmith is my best option at this point if I hope to have it back in time for this season.

I really appreciate all the recommendations.

Call them up and see how long the turn around is?
It might not be as long as you think.
