Those railroad detectives will track you down. As kids we used to push the railroad's tool cart to the top of the hill and ride it down. When we were finished we would hide it in the bushes till next time. Our fun was over when the railroad detective showed up at the front door looking for that buggy. We got our tails tore up by our parents.

Re: Rail road cross ties - 05/02/16 12:12 PM

A crosstie is 7"x9"x8'8" they should fetch $25-$30 each.
If it's smaller dimensions, industrial grade stuff or culls they will be a lot cheaper.

I know the RR I work for in Mobile, used to let us get the used ones for free. Now no one can get them. They load'em all up on cars and sell them to someone.

If any of yall can use them un treated I may have found a place to get them from. PM me a length and qty needed and i will talk to the guy see what he says. These may be discolored and weathered looking but no rot.

Re: Rail road cross ties - 06/11/16 01:26 PM

I buy mine at lowes by the bundle(16). But there 10ft long instead of 8ft. There's a place in falkville that makes them and you can get seconds for 35$ if I remember right I think what the lady told me. They're not in bad shape either.
