Deer Question - 11/27/15 11:40 PM
Shot a deer this evening with a bow....he turned and bolted off....stopped, then it sounded like he was doing circles and struggling....then he bolts off one more time and I lose his sound in a thicket....didn't find arrow or blood but I backed out without looking real hard until morning....I have killed several deer, and I have heard the circling like they were fighting to stay upright sounds....thought I hit him in front shoulder....usually my misses are followed by a deer running off and stopping...then casually walking away...thoughts?

Just my opinion, but it sounds like you hit him in a weird spot. Maybe non-lethal but irritating to him. You couldn't find the arrow, no blood. Of course that doesn't mean he's not down. Seems like you are doing the right thing by backing off IMO. If you have access to a dog, as "Dkhargroves" said, take advantage of it. But you may not sleep tonight. Good luck.

Mighty warm outside to let one lie all night then go hunt it tomorrow.
