LFFK (Not a misprint!)

Today's my first of three days up here on a muzzleloader hunt. Figured I'd stay out of the bow LFTT stands since I'm not slingin' an arrow.

I'm set up at the top of a hilltop funnel in a bunch of hardwoods. Should be a good travel corridor, cause the ridge I'm on is really steep and there's only two funnels on it for its entire length. 63 degrees here now, and will get into the mid 50's by dark. Tomorrow morning (drum roll please)...... the forecast calls for 33 degrees!!! I might see something this evening, but tomorrow morning looks to be perfect. Hope so anyway.

Haven't even seen a squirrel so far - been on stand since 1pm. Today's set is just therapy - tomorrow is when I expect to see deer moving.

Question- do you have to register a muzzleloader? Or is it just slug guns?

You do NOT have to register a ML. Instead it's just slug guns like you said.

I got in the stand about 45 minutes before legal shooting time this morning. So far I've only seen a squirrel. I did see 5 does while driving in this morning, so I know they moved some.

Well, what's the word this cool, windy morning?

My good friend just moved/PCS to knox. This will be his first year hunting there, should be better than here at ft bragg.

Well I got walked on at 0915, which is no real surprise. Not really a big deal either. I packed everything out and am about to walk to a hardwood flag between a field and the edge of a fairly steep drop off. Should be a good funnel area I hope.

Not yet, but I've still got 3 1/2 hours to go. Nowhere near prime time yet.

New spot looks like a fairly traveled area. Wind is the perfect direction, but a little windy and a little warm. Hopefully that doesn't stop the deer from moving today.

Well I finally saw a deer. Little over 100 yards diagonally from me, due west. Couldn't make out what it was because of the shadows.

I saw two does at 7pm. At least I saw deer from the stand. Going to climb that same spot in the morning. Hunting til 1100 then HSV bound.

Saw a really nice 8 pt at 8:20 on the range road as I was headed out. Typical.

Alright, one last attempt before this trip is over. 30 degrees, plus a nice frost on the ground this morning. Hoping for the best here in Kentucky!

Didn't see a thing this morning. Headed back up there in mid-November though, and they'll be in the middle of the rut then.
