2015/16 Goals

Last year, being my first year to deer hunt, my goal was simply to shoot my first deer. Which I did on December 31st (doe) and also picked up a small buck a couple weeks later on.

This year I have a few more goals, doubt I'll reach them all, but hope to check a couple off my list.

1) Harvest a deer with my son (5) along with me on the hunt.
2) Shoot a deer with my granddad's old Browning Auto 5.
3) Help my dad get his first deer.
4) Help my wife get her first deer.

I'll be doing a lot of hunting on public land (not WMAs) though so that I don't over pressure the one parcel of private land (55 acres) to which I have access. Of course, I'll update on here as the season goes on. Wish me luck!

My 3rd season coming up ... I've killed 5 does and one spike.

Goals:

1) Spend as much time in the woods as I can, enjoying God's beautiful creations
2) Put 2-3 does in the freezer
3) Harvest a racked buck

My goals:

1) kill at least one good buck in AL

2) bow hunt KY again this year

3) to draw a turkey tag in CO this Spring

4) to kill my 3 birds in NE the first day of the hunt this Spring

Since I've decided to leave the Jackson County mountains my goal is to find a good club in West/SW Bama to deer and turkey hunt.

My goals are unchanged.
1 Don't have any goals, and
2 Have fun.

I have found that number 2 is easier obtained if number 1 is executed.

Goal for this season:

1) Keep my 3yr streak going of killing at least two mature bucks per season.

2) Kill three does for the freezer

3) Kill a sho 'nough goodun

I hope to be able to track down some kid’s first deer with Otis and see the look on their face when we find it.

I'd like both of my boys to connect on nice bucks. However, we WILL NOT let that get in the way of rules 1 and 2.

It will be my second season, had no luck last season. I would just love to get a deer, but being out in the woods is a blessing in itself.

No goals. just enjoy it.

Still hurting for that 1st bow kill. That's my only true goal. Ive learned a lot from mistakes in a tree over the past few years. Hopefully I can correct them this year.

at this point, my only goal is to just get the opportunity to hunt.....not looking good at the moment.

It is amazing how goals change! I hope to get my oldest daughter on a deer this year. Last year they helped me recover a couple I had shot and enjoyed it. The last one was in pouring rain and the two oldest wanted to go so we loaded up the buggy. My youngest (special needs) was trying her best to get down from her meme's lap and wanted to go to so, we loaded her up as well. This was the first deer killed with my daughters new rifle I had just sighted it in that day less than two hours before.



This turned out to be the best hunt or rather recovery of the season, toping my nephews first ever deer kill where we both downed bucks 15 minutes apart while hunting at the lake. So my ultimate goal this year is to have at least one experience with my wife and children this good.

Get my wife her first deer with a bow

1. Help my friend's son get his first buck.
2. Hold out for a 130 or bigger. I know I'm shooting for the moon. If it isn't bigger the wife won't let me take it to the taxidermist.

My main goal is to have fun. My next goal is to kill a 140 or bigger on Kentucky public land

Just enjoy ole mother nature & try learn more, a friend wants a deer this year , so ill try to help him.

To eat a lot of snack sticks

My goal is to get my first buck bow kill and add a couple does to the freezer.

Don't fall out of a tree stand and live to hunt another day.

I don't have goals when it comes to hunting any more. I just enjoy each day in the woods thanking my Creator for the opportunity.

Enjoy myself and maybe kill one with the CVA muzzleloader pistol or the recurve. I toted both a few times last year and really enjoyed carrying them. That pistol on the sling tucks right under your arm like a dream. But I need the deer inside of 40 yards to feel good about shooting it.

1 Get my son out in the woods a little more. He'll be 4 in December.

2 Get my wife her first racked buck. She has killed some does and a spike.

3 Get back to the way I used to hunt. The last four years I've been taking it easy. I'm ready to get after to get after them again.

I'm after a big old deer that we call crabclaw.

Other then that, as long as we have fun and all make it out alive, I'm good.

I still have stiches backin out om my shoulder from an opening day duck hunting trip last year. Was benched from there on. I just hope to hunt

I hope to get my 6 yr old up close and personal to a deer. See some in the deep woods right downwind off a trail.

I won't lie ... personal goal to kill a really good buck I missed out on last year. Probably won't happen.

Early season I plan on just enjoying the crisp air, setting sun, and hooting owls, as it gets dark in the fall.

I hope we can have "goals" and still have fun. Hunting is not a life or death thing and I am glad we're all looking forward to spending time in the woods and making memories with family and friends.

Hey Matt, I know better!

1. Get my son on a buck during his break between semesters at AU.
2. I'd like to kill at least one good buck worth hanging on the wall.
3. Kill a good buck in Kentucky.
4. Kill a buck with my bow, which I've never done.

My goal: enjoy whatever time I get to be outdoors hunting and fishing

My goal is to catch and prosecute the poacher that I saw on my place last year!

Really I only carry one goal into hunting season and that is fill the freezer. I'll have fun while doing it without a doubt so after I put one or two nannies in the freezer it's all a bonus. Now I have two things on my wish list for this season:

1. Go on a bear hunt up in the mountains (I have a co worker that runs dogs so this may happen this year)

2. Take a mature deer (buck or doe) on public ground in both AL and NC.

Since I missed all of turkey season in both states due to an injury, I'm ready to spend some time outside. If I can do that, it'll be a good season regardless.

I always try to kill a few does with my bow. And there's a big high rack deer id like to get, but my number one goal is to kill a pig. I know to some of you that sounds crazy, but ive never killed one and ive just got the itch. Dont have any on my family farm or lease so ill be heading to wma's to try again this year.

I think my only goal this year is to be in the woods when Im able . My first born is expected nov. 9 so I'll cherish all the time I can get. Other than that, I'd like to get my first bow buck.

My goal basically is to thank and praise the good Lord every time I am blessed to walk into His creation...If I see a deer, Awesome...If I don't see anything, Awesome...Just being out there experiencing His creation is enough for me and a big buck is just the cherry on top

Same as always. Just hunt without over thinking it and enjoy myself. And I'll do this by hunting from ground blinds the majority of the time.

I want my son to get a nice buck for the wall in his room and I hope he kills every pig he sees. I think he likes shooting pigs more than deer.

For myself. I would like another buck for the wall from Alabama and one from Mississippi. Oh and I would gladly give up my two goals to be able to get my hands on a couple poachers.

1. Just to enjoy all of the time I get to spend with my son in our efforts to get a mature buck.
2. Oh....and plenty of cold snacks after...around a fire.

My primary goal is to have my son (4yo) hunt with me a good bit this year. I have built and put up 6 new shooting houses just for that reason.

I got with 4 buddies and we leased about 800 acres a few miles from my house. They had been hunting some of it for several years, it has a higher density than my place and has produced at least one mature buck/year for a while. I have high hopes about hunting there this year.

I have a local buck at my house that I have let walk for the past few years. He was about a 120" 9 point last year as a 3yo, I would love to be able to kill him this year.

Just looking to have fun and play the game as much as work & family allows!
