Have any of you converted a 5 speed trolling motor to a variable speed? Seems like it would be simple. Surely each speed setting wouldn't have to have its own controller would it? If that was the case, you could just put a controller on the slowest setting, cause my slowest isn't as slow as I wamt.

I doubt it will work. The POT is different on a variable. But, go to BBC on trolling motor forum and ask John, he will respond.

Did a search over there. My question had been asked before. Looks like it can be done for about 250 dollars.

The motorguide guy in Prattville did it to mine years ago. he is very reasonable too.
