Common sense tells me Obama can't possibly muster the excitement and hope that he did last election. 9 states that went Republican in 04 went Democrat in 08. Obama garnered the most votes ever cast for a president. How can he possibly repeat that. The defeatist attitude that many Republicans have is sickening and unrealistic. Obama has a record now and you will see many Democrats and independents stay at home this election cycle.
Conservatives who are doom and gloom have a negative impact on other potential voters who are fence straddlers and would possibly vote Romney if they saw some hope in doing so. Some people are so shallow they would rather not vote than be on the losing side. Winners act like winners and losers act like losers.
I'm looking at this realistically and there isn't a single demographic that he hasn't lost support in. If he loses only 3-4% of those who voted for him last time Romney wins. Do you think Obama is going to inspire record turnout again? Think all those voters like what they got? Or do you think Republicans are more motivated than ever to vote this election? Independents? You know, the ones who carried Obama to victory last time? Romney has a sizable lead among them, now. Obama has no chance.
