Well honestly a snake doesn't strike fear in me when I'm in my truck. smile That is a hoss though.

Beautiful Diamondback. I cant recall the last time that I actually saw a Diamondback as opposed to a Timber rattler.

Plenty over 6 feet. Now the ones that are supposedly 9 feet long I doubt. Last time I was at the Bham zoo they had one that was well past 6 feet.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Frankie, I've let two get a free pass but I have whacked most of them in the head, reluctantly as timbers are so docile.

I usually put an end to them as I just can't stand the thought of one that I let go biting someone in my club.

But I admire your sense of appreciation for our big timbers.

I see an eastern diamondback every year or so in Coffee & Geneva Counties as well as panhandle Florida. Not as many as when I was a kid but then again I no longer live in the area. I haven't killed one in 18years or so and most likely never will again. I like to see them........as long as I see them first. I'm not as friendly with the timber rattlers but have let a few of them crawl on as well.

The Opp rattlesnake rodeo has ben going on for over 35 years and I'm pretty sure the biggest one ever entered was around 13 pounds, thousands of rattlesnakes entered over the years.

I just let a baby timber get away from me on the dirtroad beside my house...Little bastage was to fast..Went bout a half mile on down and killed his daddy.Bout 4 feet long with 8 rattlers and a button. That makes number 4 for me so far this year with all of em being between 3-4 feet.Last one i killed before this one a few minutes ago had 10 rattlers and a button. He was a hoss too.I get out every so often right before dark and ride dirtroads around my house so i can catch em soaking up heat from the dirtroads. One birdshot to the head does em in everytime.

I'm with Matt on this one.

Here's a link to a 19' 127lb python.

http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2013/may/21/burmese-python-florida

Unless the 100lb rattlesnake had recently eaten two dozen swamp rabbits.....I don't think it weighed anywhere near 100lbs.

Or maybe they forgot to tare the scales prior to weighing the snake.

It was 13lbs 8oz turned in by Jimmy Jones it was 6foot 9inches long alive.
the largest turned in while I was in there was 12lbs 6oz at 6foot 7inches alive. We did have one turned in that weighed 27lbs till we took it off the scales and it proceded to throw up lead shot that it had been force fed.
