How often do you change the oil in your 4 wheeler? My Honda has had the oil changed twice since it was new, once after brake in and the day before I got it. I got it used in 2008 but I don't remember how many hours were on it. It has 101 total hours on it right now. I've never changed the oil since I've owned it but I don't ride it much. It's a 2007 Honda Rincon. I guess it won't hurt to change it just to be safe.

Mine is a 1997 with over 6000 miles on it and I have changed the oil at least once every year so far.

be sure to go synthetic in that Rincon bamabart. It will shift firmer and is all around better. Those Rincons put more stress on oil than most atvs

You need to do it once a year due to condensaion in the crankcase and oil pan due to temperature fluctuations and not because of visible wear or degradation.

Make sure that any oil you buy is rated JASO MA for wet clutch applications. I use Mobil One RACING for motorcycles in my 06 Foreman. Seems to run cooler and shift better. I change it every 100 hours or so. I have 4500 miles on it so far with no issues.

I've always used the manufacturer oil in my ATV's. You might pay a little more but you'll know your using the right stuff.

I have a '93 Honda Fourtrax, used it hard for a few years hog hunting and still use it to spreed seed, fertilizer and spray. I have never changed oil in it, nor have I needed to add any.

I bought a used Honda 4 wheeler a few weeks ago. The color of the oil was fine, but I decided to change it. The day before I changed the oil, I added 2 oz of Seafoam to the crankcase and rode the 4 wheeler for about 30 minutes, then rode it again 15-30 minutes the next morning, before changing. The oil was jet black when I changed it. A week later, and after riding some each afternoon, the oil is still honey colored. I used Honda oil and filter.

deadeye is right, make sure you get oil made for wet clutches. I use Valvoline. I might also suggest replacing the drain plug before pouring the new oil in the crankcase. eek

I m not bashing but why would you not change the oil occasionally.

Somewhat cheap insurance and simple maintenance for a item that you spent money on.

Dam! changing oil is a law of Physics?????

One might say, "why change it if it don't need it?"
Now after almost 20 years if the engine fails some could say it was because I didn't change oil every year.

I don't know if it's possible to run a gasoline engine for 20 years of "hard use" without changing the oil simply because it would never occur to me to try it.

I've worked on & rebuilt engines for over 30 years & fully understand the importance of lubrication and the effects of heat, wear, dirt, and condensation on oil.

I work hard to buy my toys & to abuse it like that would never begin to make sense to me, and even less to brag about it, but hey, you do what you enjoy, just don't ever bother to offer to sell me something that you maintained.
