This year my son is hunting from a treestand for the 1st time. Every year, I hang 10-15 loc-ons complete with climbing sticks to hunt from. This year, my 9 year-old son is hunting with me and will be in those stands. My system includes me carrying a lightweight stand to the tree (for me to sit in), climbing up/hanging it next to the existing stand, and dropping a lifeline down to him for use while climbing up.

Here's the issue I've encountered. I have 2 lightweight stands I've tried thus far (a Gorilla Scout and a Gorilla Silverback). Both of them have a seat that is too tall for my comfort level (think they are 20-21 inches). Does anyone know of any lightweight loc-ons (8-12 lbs.) which either has an ajustable seat or one that's less than 20 inches in height?

I would look at the Millennium m100. You could go ahead and buy enough of the cam locks to put at each site and then you could just put the stand on. Think they weight around 12lbs.

Good idea on the cam locks and ease of setup... but seat height on those are 21 inches. Need something under 20".

Have you ever sat in one?

I have a Loc-On brand that is similar to the windwalker model and at 6' I wish the seat height was a little more than it is. I will measure mine tonight but the windwalker is 20" according to the Loc-on website. At 7 lbs it is easy on easy off.

Hallb... I haven't. My issue is that without a footrest, my back tires quickly because of the awkward angle. Though I'm right at 6'0", from the waist to the feet I'm more like a 5'8" guy on measurement. Have considered maybe going with a Lone Wolf Assault and installing a footrest on it. Though the seat height is 21", the footrest would make it more bearable. The best thing, however, would be to get one with a shorter seat.

Think the Milleniums have that seat that's like a lounger as opposed to sitting straight. Lot more comfortable than the straight up sitting from standard lock on.

I have a foot rest on my m100. I do see how you could say the bottom piece is too close to the seat therefore making you feel a little "cramped" when you're sitting down, but the seat is just so dang comfortable. The foot rest helps alleviate that cramped feeling quite a bit. I put foot rests on every climber and lock-on that I can.

Amen to the footrests on all the stands... they do wonders for them. Have a couple of Ol Man Roost stands with side rests and footrests... they're the most comfortable stand I've ever used.

I can't get you one for a deal but I love my Millennium.

I put up a lock-on too (a few different varieties of brands) with a LifeLine and I add a Millennium receiver beside the permanent lock-on. I climb up with my Millennium lock-on on my back and then stand in the permanent stand and ease my Millennium into the receiver. It works like a charm and then I pull bows or guns and everything up for my son using my bow rope. He hooks his prussic knot to the LifeLine and up he comes and I feel very comfortable that he's always connected. We sit side-by-side and it's worked out great!

I have five or six lock-on setups and I keep a Millennium receiver on each setup/tree and just use one Millennium lock-on for all my setups and man, is my Millennium lock-on comfortable!!!

Millennium with a foot is what I use . I have several double sets for filming and hunting with kids. Perchjerker can get you a really good deal.
