Sitting in a pine hardwood mix by what is left on an old house place, it's just a foundation now. I've been listening to a bunch of hens raising cain since the sun came up.

Today was a fun day. Into the woods at 10 till six. As I got settled in there were deer already moving. I was sitting on a ridge overlooking a bottom and up another ridge line, and had two walk behind me. They saw me, and were smaller bucks, but they did not spook. Just as they got over the ridge I hit a quick grunt call, and a nice eight point tore across the ridge in front of me. Made a 120yd shot with .243. Would post a pic but not sure how to do that. I’d happily text it to someone to post for me.

Thanks perchjerker! I know it could’ve “gotten bigger next year”, but I’ve never even seen one that large while holding a gun. Biggest deer we’ve taken from our private land in 15 years, and first buck in three. There is a lot of pressure around the area on them, and I was blessed to get him.

Saw 8 this morning no shooters. Went to the truck for lunch and changed the scenery for this afternoon. The wind is swirling 3 different directions right now but hopefully is calm down before dark.
