I’m thinking about switching to one and would like some reviews I can count on. I’m looking at the wide set and climb, I briefly thought about a hand climber but not sure how I would gun hunt out of it. Other than the $$$ how do y’all like/dislike them.

I've got both the hand climber and sit and climb. I'm a rather small framed fella that weighs about 170 and they work great for someone my size. I'm not sure a fella much over 200 would feel comfortable in one. They are very light and that's why I like it. Also it's the most quiet climber I've ever put on a tree and climbed with. You don't have metal components clicking and banging while putting it on the tree. Once in the tree it's about like sitting in a lock-in style stand. Not a big seat, but I stand a lot. Don't sit much anyway. There's not a lot of difference in the way I climb between the hand climber and sit and climb. With either you'll need a shooting stick or something else to steady your shot for anything over 100 yards. I use them a lot in bow season. When I find I hot tree that deer are feeding under I slip in quietly and hunt. I don't have any cons on them yet. Been using them for 6 seasons and so far I don't have a reason to try anything else. I hate big bulky stands. I know there are some more comfy, but I'm not sacrificing my stealth and mobility for comfort. Hunting ain't supposed to be a comfort sport.

Matt those are the reasons I’ve took a liking to them. My summit is a good stand but it’s a little bulky and can make a lot of noise walking through the woods and setting it up. I bowhunt public land (military base) so I can’t always hunt the same area so it helps to be mobile. I alternate between sitting and standing, just to keep the blood flowing but I try to stand as long as possible. I’m 6’ 230lb so that’s why I ruled out the hand climber but I wonder how the wide sit and climb would work? I’d be willing to sacrifice a little comfort for the light weight and portability of the lone wolf.

I switched from Summit Viper to Lone Wolf sit and climb about 3 years ago. I love the pack ability of the Lone Wolf. I got tired of hauling that bulky Summit around and it hanging on everything. Lone Wolf is much quieter. It takes just a few seconds longer to hook and unhook the Wolf. And, it's definitely not as comfortable as a Summit. But I changed my Wolf seat to a Hazemore and added the foot rest. Those 2 things made a big difference. I'm glad I switched. Still have my Summit, but haven't hooked it to a tree in 3 years now. Lone Wolf for me. You'll love it if you like to change spots often or need to hike in way away from the crowd.

I have a alum viper and a wide sit-n-climb. For bowhunting I use the LW. For gun hunting I use the viper because of the solid bar in the front. It's easier to nap in the summit, but the travel and quietness is better with the LW.

Did the foot rest make a difference with setting it up or packing in/out of the woods. I’ve never used on with a foot rest.

I have the old viper classic, it’s a good stand but not very quiet.

The only thing the Summit beats lone wolf in is comfort. So put a Summit seat on a lone wolf and go to work!

How is the bigger platform on Lone wolf? When I stand up in my summit I don’t have a lot of to move around so I’m thinking the bigger platform would be good.

Quick look at some websites show the LW platform about an inch longer, but not as wide as the viper. The LW cast alum platforms have ridges built in to prevent slipping.

The lone wolf is the easiest, quietest stand I've ever climbed in. I really like the open front for bow hunting. I replaced the seat with a hazmore, put on foot rest, and added third hand archery stabilizer straps. Its worth the $

Is it still as quiet and easy to set up with the extras? I need to checkout those Hazmore seats you’re second one to mention them

I was thinking it was a little wider as well

That is what I did. Works for me.
