11-87 premier turkey pattern - 07/09/23 04:13 PM

I have an 11-87 that will absolutely not pattern, I’ve tried 2 diff constriction chokes, a .660 and a .664, tried 4/5 different shells and at 40 yards it just won’t hit! I bought the carlsons .664 and shot a longbeard #5 and no pellets even hit the bird lol, I thought surely that combination would be excellent, has anyone else had one and patterned it if so what shell/choke combo works for it???????

Get the biggest piece of cardboard you can find, like a big screen tv box. Put a dot in the middle, then shoot at it from 40yds. I bet you Bustinbeards is on to the answer.

Well let’s say it doesn’t shoot poa/poi, it’s a simple white bead that’s not moveable, how would you correct it?

shim the stock until it is poa/poi or

Tru glo pro gobble dot extreme sights if you want open sights. Or

Put a saddle mount and red dot or

Drill tap and put a base and red dot on it.

I had to buy Tru glo gobble dot magnum sights for my 870.an adjustable sight that tightened to your vent rib the poi center of pattern to far off.as mentioned use a large target to see where your pattern is
My son's shotgun patterned great out to 50yards with a cheap $20 choke with hevishot but mine I went through 3 chokes and a sight.ended up with a jebs choke and adjustable sights.its money now almost to tight at 20-25 yards..
You probably have a slightly off barrel like I do

Are you lining up the beads for aim, or stacking ( figured 8) sight picture? Makes a difference.

Shimming the stock will not change POI if you’re AIMING a turkey gun like a rifle. That only applies for wingshooting. It’s like saying adjust your stock instead of your scope to zero your rifle. Barrels can be trued….just not sure who does it anymore. Sights/optic and adjusting POA vs poi from there….sounds like what you might need. Kicks chokes were always my best patterning with turkey loads in 12ga Remchoke guns. JEBS, Indian Creek, Trulock….any should get you there. Im not much of a Carlson’s fan, but that’s a company attitude thing…not a product thing.

Those are on my 1187SPST as well. Simple solution that works very well.
