No Cornbread Recipe Pinned?

How is it that there isn't a cornbread recipe pinned somewhere on this board? Looking for one with white sugar and a powdered sugar topping like the one we had up in Iowa.

The only cornbread recipe anyone needs is "pinned" to the back of the Martha White cornmeal bag

Martha White recipe has vegetable oil in it. Do we substitute lard instead?

Crackling bread
Take a handful of cracklings, place in iron skillet, brown until crispy and smoking.
Pour half cracklings in cornbread mix, leave half on bottom of pan, pour cornbread mix in hot pan, cook 375 until golden brown.

Cornbread mix 1 egg, 2 TBS melted butter or butter flavored crisco, cornmeal, buttermilk and 3 tsp of flour to consistency, depends on size of pan. I always salt and pepper my cornbread mix too.

I make mine like the martha white recipe except I add an extra egg (2 total), Use crisco instead of oil.

Is a good recipe and even better if you add 1/4 cup of sugar.

Extra fine cornmeal, salt, and cold water. Make into patties and fry in oil in a cast iron skillet.

If you're from the South you shouldn't need a cornbread recipe.

Nor a biscuit or grits recipe.

You should be born knowing that.

I cooked for a couple folks last weekend. They wanted recipes. I just looked at them and said "Bless your heart".
