π π pit - 06/25/22 02:16 AM
So me and Ol CM 1975 built a pit today pork shoulders and butts and ribs are fine but if you want real bbq you gotta go all whole π½ π π· weβre upping our q game Bigly and will be doing a whole hog cook soon as soon as we season the pit and rest assure there will not be any Randyβs sole sauce anywhere near our pit or Saws sauce either we will only and exclusively put Whild Bills Eat a Bag (tm) sauce on this pit.

I hope you make Whild Bills Eat a Bag sauce with white vinegar.π Very nice looking pit.π

Gonna be fun cooking whole heritage hogs on this gem!! Look forward to updating our brothers!

Re: π π pit - 06/25/22 02:58 AM
I sent in Saws sauce to the sauce off because I wasnβt given the approval to send the real sauce but I did think saws would beat Randyβs but it was just one manβs opinion and he donβt like apple cider sauces so it had no chance. Pretty poor judging system to fairly rate them but saws sauce lost to a legit brand but my real sauce would have won easily

Nice pit and Iβve threatened to build one.

Re: π π pit - 06/25/22 03:18 AM
Carv. Itβs pretty easy and you should. Canβt cook real bbq unless you have a real pit. Eggs and smilers are fine but canβt compete with a real pit.

Re: π π pit - 06/25/22 04:00 AM
Bill go by Publics and get your Black Randy's so you can see why you lost so bad. Also, please know I am going to savor using Bear Branches gift card knowing it means so much to you heck I may use it to do some R & D for a soul sauce 2.0. And the new Soul Sauce 2.0 has a special ingredient - whild bils / cm1975's tears. On second thought I will probably just use that card at chicken salad chick.
Oh... nice pit.

Oh there you are Bpi. So you can just go suk a bag (tm). Please kindly stay out of my threads unless you have a real bbq pit then you can eat a bag (tm)

BPI we didnβt lose to you Saws sauce did. In fact the only thing we did that was ours was win the marketing competition and you said more than once you was a marketing genius

Re: π π pit - 06/25/22 07:12 PM
We need updated pics and also picks of the cooked hog. I agree there is nothing like a whole hog seasoned with nothing but table salt

It is over rated and Black Randy's 5 finger soul sauce beat him like a rented Mule in the Kentucky derby in a sauce off a couple months ago Bill is still a little salty over it in case you couldn't tell you can pick up a bottle of BR5FSS (tm) at pulbics

Re: π π pit - 06/26/22 11:47 AM
Need to line the inside with brick. Block donβt have a good burn rating and wonβt hold up for the long run
Posted By: Whild_Bill
Re: π π pit - 06/26/22 12:52 PM
I thought about running some fire brick inside
Posted By: imadeerhntr
Re: π π pit - 06/26/22 01:31 PM
Fire brick will last you a lifetime but any red common brick will give you a lot more time. And you can probably pick up some left over red brick for free. Fire brick is pricey

Re: π π pit - 06/26/22 01:52 PM
What if you fill the block with concrete. Would that help?

No itβs about the clay in brick that gives longer life

A piece of 1/8 plate with a rebar handle in each end would be heavy but it would hold in the heat better.

BPI thanks for the suggestion now you can kindly eat bags

I would use corrugated stainless before I used galvanized. Too much heat releases the zinc oxide fumes which in turn ends up in whatever youβre smoking.

Re: π π pit - 06/29/22 04:43 PM
Yup. Galvanized fumes can be really unhealthy

That looks like a lotta prime cookin real estate!! Fill that bad boy up and let βer eat!! Once seasoned well, that looks to produce some prime, whole-body proteins.
