tons of advise here. I hunted there many times..with Panhandle Outfitters of North Texas...Mr. Creed akers. Tagged out everytime and filmed a lot there. I even filmed ole Creed on a hunt. On a giant roost.
The Red River is the biggest roost area for Rios in the country I beleieve. We set up on a famous roost and I filmed over 200 birds fly out..50 gobblers. They would split up and all form flocks and go in different directions. Great hunting. heres some info on him. Hes from Quannah Tx.

http://www.texashuntfish.com/app/view/Hunt/2304/Rustler-Creek-Outfitters You cant go wrong in the panhandle. It is alot different from the rest of texas. Lots of oat, wheat and peanut fields. A TON of gobblers. Let me know if that helps.
I hunted west texas as well for over 6-7 years and theres alot of good hunting there as well...but I felt North Texas was easier..though we tagged out every year in west texas too. We shot 23 in 3 days there on tv one year. texas is great for rios!
every where is alot of birds and they come a-runnin!
