How fast do birds return after a prescribed burn? Is it days, weeks, or just after it starts greening up?

I'm asking about huntable populations not just some random birds starting wander through.

Not long. This one took a little over a week to get killed but he and the rest of them showed back up the next day. I’ve seen them go back in while the smoke was clearing.

I killed a turkey when I was in college on a WMA and there were literally stumps smoking all around me. I roosted the bird the afternoon before which was the day they burned.

We killed two in wilcox county one morning . We did not know they had just burned the day before and when we pulled up to the gate in the darkness you could see flames still coming out of the stumps. Gobblers were going crazy that morning
