LFTW 4/5/2020 Shutdown Edition

Headed back to the same spot on the WMA where I killed my bird yesterday. Hoping to find his buddy that watched him die. Only cars I’ve seen on the road so far are cops. Good luck everybody and remember we have the right to hunt during this crap!

Only saw 3 other vehicles on the rd one was a cop. I normally pass 15-20 this time of morning

A lot less traffic this morning for me as well. I’m sitting at my gate and will make the walk back in shortly. Had to pack some extra toilet paper this morning, because I’ve got that feeling that nature will be calling sooner rather than later.

That was just to let the public know that there’s a killer in the woods here so they should probably stay home

Just had 2 straight off limb flanked to our right side! My buddy tried shoot threw a tree top and missed his first bird

These tight lipped sobs are getting old

Had one gobble a couple times on the limb far away. Made a move on him and haven’t heard him since.

Found my birds running buddy from yesterday. Been within 150yds of him 3 times but his hens are keeping him away today. Last time he gobbled was about half an hour ago so we’re sitting tight to see where he’s moving to. The chess match continues.

Roosted 9 jakes and 6-8 hens last night in TN. Took junior in on them this morning and put all of them within 50 yards. Now there are only 8 jakes.

Heard one courtesy gobble at 7:20. Nothing else.

Turned off the paved rd only to find a tree down across my access through another persons property. Had to go home and get the chainsaw, didn’t get out here til 7. First thing I saw was two dogs on my power line. Opened the truck door and heard one way off. That’s all I’ve heard, gonna cover this place from one end to the other today because I won’t be back for a while.

Got a late start but all quiet here in bullock county.

Heard a ton of gobbling just Henned up bad...the ones that weren’t were way across property line...joker musta gobbled 150 times on his own

Been on a bird since daylight. Flew down and walked away from me 3 times. Called him back every time and could get him close enough to hear him drumming but couldn't see him. The last time I could see him but not the log.

Got number two this morning at 7 am. Gobbled good on the. Roost had one fly and land in a tree 20 yards. From me at 620. He flew off called some more. And had a wad of gobblere. Gobbling. Long story short called. Them up and had to let them separate so I could kill one. Shot the lead bird. Strutting awesome morning

Had a chess match going with the smart bird from the other day. He went hush after 8, think from a couple of guys that pulled onto the road and went to hootin at 8am. Back after em sometime

He dead, took 3 hours

No luck this morning. Got on 3 different birds. But would not commit to us at all. Got the next week off. Gonna try to seal the deal hopefully. Congrats to the killers.

Killed #5 this morning. Heckuva morning and season. Best bird of the year with 1 3/16 and 1 1/8 sharp spurs and 10 inch beard.

Didn’t gobble hardly any but they strutted for the ladies a little too long ended up doubling up after 200 + yard crawl through rattlesnake country .

I spent my am chasing down a dang trespasser. Lucky for him he crossed the line back off my property just before I caught him. 2ND Time with this same idiot.

1st time I saw him just as he saw me and he got away only because he was on the other side of a deep sided creek and could run quicker.

Im going to be set up on that line the next few days waiting for him.

Just a matter of time. He hadnt been back after I almost caught him opening week but today he couldnt help himself as the only bird that gobbled this am was on me. Its a long walk to that line in the dark but Ive figured out how hes getting there and coming in so Ill be waiting for him.

Pulled my cams, looks like we got some poachers on my buddies property. Weve been hunting about 750ac, so it's a little hard to keep up with it all, just me and him

Did have some good ol Tom's puffed up and strutting. Hope to get one this week while I'm off work
