Which snake boot?

Which snake boot? - 04/11/17 07:29 PM

I know it's been discussed 3,000 times. I've narrowed it down to the vaprtrek snake boot or the new muck blaze cool snake boot. I really like the vaprtrek's weight but I've read they have water leak issues. I've tried on the muck pursuit snake boots and hated them but supposedly the new blaze cool are better. Any of y'all own or tried on either of these? If so what's your opinion on them

Those $70 rocky boots that were on here before season have been best pair I've ever worn. And yes they are truly waterproof.

If you want lace/zip ups get the danner pronghorns.

I put mine in and put them on the shelf. They won't get worn for a year or 2 when my cabelas boots start wearing out smile

Very comfortable and light weight but I can see my sole trying to separate in places

I wore mine at work today after seeing more cottonmouths moving lately and I have zero complaints. Maybe I got a lucky pair but they broke in easy and like I say after walking in dew soaked wheat all Am my feet were still dry.

Don't get those danged muck boots. I bought those rubber snake boots two years ago and the holes are so bad on the heels that I can't wear them anymore because no matter what I do I get blisters. Spend your $200 elsewhere

I also have lacrosse venom boots...they are really lightweight but they do leak. Other than that they are good.

I actually love my mucks, as do several of my other hunting buddies. Truly waterproof knee highs that are lightweight and comfortable as well as easy. i have the armors as well as the new "true" snake boots, both of which are expresscool

They all suck and will be replaces within two years if you use them.

Has anybody tried the Ariat Conquest? I really like the looks of it. I know they make fine cowboy and work boots but there's not many reviews on these yet.

Yekrut, are you talking about those cabela pull on's?

Re: Which snake boot? - 04/12/17 06:54 AM

i had vapretreks 8" boot, but not the snake boot. I used them on opening weekend and came home and ordered me some more danners!!! Those trianlge rubber pieces on the vapertreks by your toes rubbed the hell out of my foot, which i do have a wide foot. Got my danners in and loving them, plenty of room!! All i will ever wear from now on for hunting!! AS far as snake protection i wear those cabelas snake gaiters. Just buckle them on and go!! And when you get back to the truck you can just unbuckle and take them right off!! Once I take them off it almost feels like air conditioning on my legs if I have sweat much.

Re: Which snake boot? - 04/12/17 06:57 AM

Danner's have been the best for me, but all snake boots will require maintenance to remain waterproof unless their rubber. To me the jackals wear like a tennis shoe and are the lightest I've found but will leak over time but a good once over with snow seal and ya good to go.

Yes, I love them. I bought 2 pairs and wished I would have ordered 10 pair and put them up.

You and me both! How old are they now 3 or 4 years? When i get home from work, i put them on and use them working around the house. I stood in a creek last week for over 10 minutes clearing some brush with no leaking. Easy on, easy off. I still can't figure why they stopped making those.

They discontinued that mossy oak brush or whatever it is pattern on them. They didn't quit making he entire boot at the time of the sale from what I remember. It was only one pattern. Only complaint I can think of is the loose fitting top let's stuff fall in them sometimes, but they are easy to dump out if so.

Danner Pronghorn! Going on 10 years. Replaced strings before this season. Spray them three or four times with the camping silicone spray before each season. Good to go.

I perfer Lacrosse rubber snake boots. I have the Vap'r treks. They're lightweight, but have not proven to be waterproof and tend to bow in at the ankle causing serious rubbing.

I had to buy a new pair this year when my redhead boots soles came off. I bought the Vaportreks and love them. Feel like I am walking around in tennis shoes.

Before you commit to something, find some Chippewa waterproof briar pitstop to try on. They are a little stiff at first, but break in quickly and feel great. I'm on my 4th year with them, and so far they are holding up great and still waterproof. My only complaint would be that they don't have a very aggressive tread on bottom.

Chippewa 25110 Men's Snake Boots
http://www.tylerbrothers.net/

I did a lot of research and bought these boots from this outfit and saved about $55; shipping was free. So far they are great, my feet are still getting broken into them, but I walked a BUNCH this past weekend, and I think they are the best boot out there

Yep, they're good, just got mine broken in. They go on sale at Academy at the end of winter. I couldn't believe Academy carried them.

Re: Which snake boot? - 04/12/17 11:07 AM

For the guys with the Chippewas.... Do any of you do much climbing in them? The areas I mostly in the TNF are hilly as all get out and the soles on the Chippewas don't look very aggressive. Just curious to how they hold up to climbing up and down hills all day. Appreciate any of your feedback.

Re: Which snake boot? - 04/12/17 12:08 PM

They're not aggressive. My dad has them and he likes that mud doesn't stick to the bottoms.
Posted By: foldemup

Re: Which snake boot? - 04/12/17 12:24 PM

I climb hills in them and I get to where I need to go with them. Leaves and muddy hillsides can be a little slippery, but not enough to shy away from using the boot.

Same here. Easiest boot I have ever broke in.

Re: Which snake boot? - 04/12/17 08:45 PM

Ive got the vapretrek snakeboot i still wear them some but ive worn mine out an the ankles are collapsing, bout $200 some odd boot that lasted me about 6 months of wearing them nearly everyday. Mediocre boot at best theyre waterproof for bout 30 sec then theyre done an ur feet will get soaked but bout all lace up boots are like that. I wantvspend that much $ on them again when i could buy danners. The pronghorn is a heck of a boot, but if you didnt want a lace up i highly reccomend chipewa ORIGINALS. They had a few bad years id say probly 2010 to 2014. Tho according to the rep i talked to thats all taken care of now and i believe him. Im on my third season of hard use an they are still holding up very well. Also ive climbed up and over all kinds of terrain in south texas not to mention skyline wma i never had a problem

Re: Which snake boot? - 04/13/17 03:14 PM

I bought the Rocky's from Bass Pro this week on sale for $80. They fell more comfortable and light than any other I have tried on. I have read reviews where some people said they were not water proof as stated on boot so I am going to spray a coating of silicone on them just in case.

I went with the vaprtrek's since I got such a good deal on them. So far i am liking them. Very light and comfortable. Haven't tested them for being waterproof just yet. We will see how well they hold up...

Awesome!! I'm glad it worked out for you. Hope you like 'em as much as I do, tho I worry about the strap and buckle, the strap seems pretty darn thin and the buckle is pretty chintzy, but I love the boots!!
