Mathews Release - 11/14/16 08:27 PM

I'm looking forward to the release of Mathews new hunting bow lineup tomorrow. I expect there will be a longer ATA Halon released but curious as to what else they will unveil. Mathews has been on their game this year with bows ready to ship on the launch date. If it is anything like their tournament line it should be pretty exciting.

In the past it was midnight but I cannot find a time for this year. Matt McPherson is doing a live podcast with the owner of bow junky tomorrow. You can find it on their Facebook page. That is a great source of information if you're really into archery.

They use to do a count down. That was cool. I heard the new bow is a 33" Halon. I just hope they find a way to cut some weight. I haven't heard any other rumors. A remake of the Z7 magnum would get my attention.

I like the halon. Never shot them though. But if they could make lighter that would really get my attention.

I agree about the weight. The bow holds and shoots awesome but I would love to see it a 1/2 lb lighter.

The halon at high 3,s or right at 4 lbs would be awesome

The new flagship bow is the Halon 32. It's 32" axle to axle and offered in 5,6 and 7" brace height models. The 5" model weighs 4.83# and the 6 & 7" models weigh 4.73#. It's available in 3 new camo versions (Optifade Elevated II, Optifade Open Country and Ridge Reaper Barren). They also came out with a new women's bow called the Avail and a kid's bow called the Stoke. Nothing "earth shattering " this year.

The youth bow seems pretty sweet. It was typical Mathews fashion though. Same bow, different ATA.

I don't think I'd get a halon just because of the weight.

Y'all realize that part of the reason the halon shoots so well is the weight? I sure wouldn't let a half pound keep you from toting it to the woods. Considering the 30 pounds or more of crap that most of use carry anyways.

Re: Mathews Release - 11/15/16 09:38 PM

I'm thinking real hard about getting rid of my Z7 and Creed and buying a second HTX as a back up. It's the easiest tuned bow I've ever shot. Nock height is set at 0 and my rest lined up straight down the middle. It's shot 3 different fixed broadheads with my field points with no further tuning. I've never had a bow that's done that.
