Present. Is it turkey season yet
I'm in an old permanent stand at the intersection/funnel of two food plots. Our fields have done pretty well in this bottom along the creek and deer are all over them. My Dad's been seeing a bunch of deer in this area, but they continue to stay out of range for him...My BIL is in a ladder stand about 350 yards east of me, hoping for his first ever bow kill...Here's my view to the east of me (it looks just about like this to the west too):

Just pulled my now up. I've got a good feeling about today.

Re: LFTT 10/29 - 10/29/16 09:26 AM
Observations/thoughts from a pine tree this morning:
1. It takes a LOT of Dead Down Wind to mask sweaty odor on a 60° morning.
2. It needs to be 20° - 30° colder than it is.
3. It's amazing how a squirrel sounds just like a big 8-point.
4. Things are looking somewhat better regarding Hitlary, given the FBI's reopening of her case. (But I don't expect her to ever be found guilty)
5. My son (Andrew) is running in his third Spartan race (Beast for those of you in-the-know) in Winnsboro, SC this morning. The "Beast" race is a 12-15 mile race with 30+ obstacles. Andrew is very fit, in great shape, etc. but this race is going to be tough for him. I'll have pics later today and will start a thread.
6. Why am I still in this tree???

14 does and yearlings. All together, and then had a small eight behind them. He fed under my tree for 15 min. Took some pics but I have no idea how to post pics on here!
Just had a squirrel make me reach for my range finder.

Re: LFTT 10/29 - 10/29/16 11:51 AM
Got sorta boogered up this morning... felt lazy and decided to go in later than usual to public land, there were 9 trucks parked every 100 yards around the area I had a permit for. Finally found a remote corner (most folks don't know it's part of the same area) where nobody was. Wound up seeing 1 deer, just glimpses as it went through some thick stuff about 100 yards off. Looked very big and made lots of noise is all I could say. Back home now, gonna go to the JSU homecoming game.

Re: LFTT 10/29 - 10/29/16 12:01 PM
Got in the tree at 6. 830 heard walking sound stood up and got busted by a doe. She stomped and ran back down the trail. I grunted. She stopped and walked back stairing right at me. After a few minutes she walked off into some cover. To far for the recurve. Got down at 10 and moved the stand about 15 yards and will try her again in a few days. Beautiful morning.

Sitting on the southeast side of a mountian. I've got a beding area in front of me about 200 yards with a cross wind blowing down the mountain. Ran twondeer off climbing up the mountain. I haven't seen a deer while in the stand all year so I'm hoping to change that today.
I'm at the opposite end of the field that I hunted this morning. It's miserably hot, but I feel confident that I'll see something. Good luck to y'all

I opted to do a little work this afternoon. Trying to get my son his first bow kill. He's gotten busted trying to draw twice this week.
The hot stand we've got is on top of the trail and you have a very small window of opp. but it's the best tree. We moved some brush this afternoon to try and turn them a little in one direction or another. Hopefully that will help.

Ended up getting a m&p shield. Shot a bunch of 9mm and like that one the best.
Friend and I just got back. Saw just about every other animal other than a deer. Millions of squirrels, 2 possums, 4 raccoons, chipmunks, a coyote, and 5 armadillos. Saw a deer coming in, but that was it. I'm almost glad we didn't shoot one, that hike out about killed me.
