LFTT 10/28/15 - 10/28/15 07:12 AM

You boys are getting soft. Can't believe no ones' started a thread yet. I'm set up on a fool plot in a big red oak that's dropping a few acorns. There's a light mist falling right now.

A fool plot? Sounds about right to me!! Ha

Re: LFTT 10/28/15 - 10/28/15 07:21 AM

Back in the same tree as yesterday afternoon. Watching a hardwood bottom between some mature pines. Got a greenfield about 150 yards away.

Wasn't hardley any rain on radar but it was pouring when I got here. Waited about ten minutes then it slacked up. Of course I forgot to drop a pin at where I left my stand, so I walked around about 20 minutes looking for it.

slap KMA. Yep probably a fool for picking this spot this morning. Probably should've hit the hardwoods but I was too lazy to haul a climber in and set up this morning. Nothing but a couple of chipmunks so far.

Atleast you've been able to hunt, unlike me. I finally get to go this Friday. I get to hunt Friday morning and saturday morning. I'll only probably get to go a few times, but I'll give em hell when I do. Look out swoop necks!

Re: LFTT 10/28/15 - 10/28/15 07:36 AM

I'm going to the stand late this morning and going to try a mid day hunt. With the overcast the past several days I didn't realize we have a full moon right now. It peaked through last night so I'm gona change my strategy today. I'm off all next week so gona hit it hard then too.

Re: LFTT 10/28/15 - 10/28/15 09:29 AM

Got off work this morning at 6. I finally got in the woods at 8. Jumped 4 does while walking the creek bank. I only heard 1 of them blow once. I don't hunt here much at all so hopefully they didn't get too scared. They ran the opposite way so hopefully I'll catch them on their way back to bed down. I'm still hoping to get my first bow kill. The rain has stopped here in Dekalb County. Good luck to all that's hunting today.

Right after the rain was always one of my favorite times to be out there. I had a lot of success in a light rain and just after a good soaking rain. They used to flood the fields after a rain where I hunted.

Up a tree in Winston co. Have several white and red oaks dropping around me. Pretty windy as well. Maybe one will come through eating acorns this evening.

Just be glad you don't have them. There are places in boligee and gainesville that you won't see a deer because of hogs

Had them jokers eat a doe I shot with my bow in oakmulgee a few years ago. Wasn't sure about the shot and couldn't find my arrow So I backed out to come back the next morning. When I found her the next day there was just a little bit of hair and a big bloody spot. Hog tracks were everywhere

There are plenty of hogs in Tuscaloosa county. From what I've gathered they are mainly on the east side of 69 hwy back to the river.

Re: LFTT 10/28/15 - 10/28/15 08:47 PM

Plenty in the northern part too. I use to be in a club up 69 North. I had pics of 12-15 at a time all the time.

Re: LFTT 10/28/15 - 10/28/15 09:22 PM

I've killed hogs starting at about Northriver yacht club all the way up hwy 69 to Goodwater Church cemetery close to blue creek road. I've killed them on Phelps road, yellow creek road, watermelon road, lock 15 road and barger road. Anywhere east of hwy 69 in Tuscaloosa has hogs.

Yes, it's a small place I acquired a few weeks ago. Didn't think it was gonna be that good, and still think we just got kinda lucky. But today was fun! For me at least. Ha! Poor Darryl ain't ever gonna live this down. And yes, I already know I'm gonna booger one up for giving him a hard time.
